Notification and Consent Agreement Loop Issue in Messages Tab

Notification and Consent Agreement Loop Issue in Messages Tab

Hello Spotify Support,

I’m encountering a frustrating issue when accessing the Messages tab on the Spotify Community website. There is a notification icon on my profile’s Messages tab, prompting me to review a private messenger consent agreement.

When I click the notification, I’m asked to either Accept or Decline the agreement. Since I’m not interested, I choose Decline and then confirm my choice. However, instead of resolving the notification, it immediately redirects me back to the same consent agreement screen, forcing me to accept or decline again. This creates an endless loop with no way to exit.

Moreover, the notification icon on the Messages tab does not disappear after I decline, which is very distracting and annoying.

Could you please fix this loop behavior and allow the notification to clear once a choice has been made? This would greatly improve the user experience.

Thanks for your help!

Hey! Thanks for the feedback, this page exists to allow users to accept or decline the Private Messages option at any point. However, we will have a think around what to do make this flow a bit smoother for those that decline the option.

I have the same issue and I'm sure it is not meant to function like this. On the user's personal settings page there is a tab for "Private Messenger", on this tab is the following info:

Private Messenger Consent Agreement

To use Private Messenger you need to be 18 or over. By clicking Accept you declare that you are aged 18 or over.

I understand and accept that the Private Messenger function is not a secure and confidential environment for exchanging personal messages. Third parties, such as service provider administrators and other personnel, could theoretically take note of these messages. I can revoke this consent at any time. I understand that if I don't give consent or later revoke my consent, I will not be able to use the Private Messenger function.
Under this message are two buttons, Accept Decline.
When I click Decline, I am taken to a page Confirm Operation with this message:

Confirmation

Are you sure you want to perform this action?

Under this message are two buttons, Confirm Cancel

I click Confirm, and I am taken back to the above Private Messenger Consent Agreement.  And it continues to go in a loop.

Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 & 2 until complete and utter frustration kicks in.
