My Question or Issue
I listen to my saved playlists with smart shuffle on.
When listening to saved playlist then switching to another Bluetooth device or the phone speaker, the same line up of songs I have just listened to start playing in the reverse order.
How do I stop that so I can continue listening to songs I haven't just been listening to.

My Question or Issue
I start a playlist, or add something to my queue, and only the first thing is played, then the app goes rogue and starts playing whatever.
I have all those features disabled as much as possible, yet it continues to happen.
I just want to listen to what I choose!
I have the same problem in the car. I've found it plays from bottom to top, so starting at the 1st song in playlist makes it go to suggested tracks afterwards. Looking for a fix with no luck so far 😕

My Question or Issue
When using spotify on android auto the playlist (seems to be all of them) play from the bottom up, doesnt matter how far down the playlist i start. Plays from top down as usual on all other platforms its just on android auto it goes in reverse. If i play the top song it will go to suggested tracks afterwards instead. Cant see anything to make it play from top down but im probably just missing it.
Hi,
I like to play my playlists in the order of recently added, which isn’t usually an issue since I can sort them that way. On my phone and PC, this works fine—it starts at the top (most recently added) and plays down to the oldest at the bottom.
However, when using Android Auto in my car, it behaves differently. It starts with the most recently added song at the top, but instead of continuing downward, it jumps to the oldest song at the bottom and then plays in reverse order.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Same problem here on android auto. Starts at the bottom and works it's way up in reverse order.
Hey folks,
For anyone still experiencing this issue, make sure to send over the following info if you haven't already:
We'll be on the lookout for your replies.
Phone make: Xiaomi
Phone model: 14T
Phone OS: 2.0.6.0 VNCEUXM
Spotify app version 9.0.28.630
I think it's safe to say that your dev team has had enough reports at this point. The repeated asking for new reports sounds a lot like hoping the bug is fixed so the issue can be closed without anyone actually having submitted a fix for it.
I'm sorry to come across harshly, and hope to avoid moderation for my comments, but enough is enough. This is a real bug reported by many users that should be easy to reproduce on virtually any hardware (as evidenced by the plethora of combinations provided by users), and here on the support post all we as users hear is calls of “can you please tell us if it's fixed yet?".
I must make a demand for escalation of this issue, please bring it to a technical lead's attention in good time. This issue has persisted for more than a year and continues to frustrate users.
Regards
This has been ongoing for so long now, don't know why you need more reports but here you go. Perhaps an actual update would be nice ?
Same issue here.
Mines been doing this for weeks and it’s really annoying when you pay what you do for Spotify. I’m on a iPhone 16 Pro Max running IOS 18.3 and this really needs resolving sooner rather than later.
This issue is all over the web with complaints from many, I mean how hard is this for developers to resolve FFS!
Hi,
I have the same issues.
My playlist sorts newest on top.
Whenever I continue my playlist on my phone (S24) it works fine. Whenever I continue my playlist from windows PC it works fine.
All apps are always up to date.
Whenever I continue listening in my car, with a Bluetooth aftermarket adapter. Suddenly the next song is a previous song, playlist just goes in reversed order. When I press next in the car, it jumps to previous song.
Only fixes I found is following, sort playlist by newest song on bottom. Then all devices work just fine.
OR
Leave my playlist in "newest on top" order and every time im in my car, just open spotify app, select the song which is currently playing. Then it plays in the right order.
I have to repeat this everytime I disconnect and reconnect to my car, which is frustrating.
This problem started about a year ago after a certain update.

I have the same issue when using my phone with Android Auto in my car.
Here is the requested information:

Spotify version: 9.0.44.478

Hi there
I have experienced a similar issue for years when connecting my Spotify Android to my car Bluetooth. Two scenarios of repetitive songs happen to me, but I don't know what causes each one.
I will connect Spotify to my car at home and drive to my destination playing songs A, B, C and D. I'll get to my destination and pause song D before getting out of the car. When I get back in the car and reconnect Spotify, it'll carry on playing song D. Then 1 of 2 things will happen:
Scenario 1: Following song D, it'll play song A, then B and C (same songs in the exact same order) and then go on to song E (new song).
OR
Scenario 2: Following song D, it'll play C then B and A (same songs in the opposite order) and then go on to song E (new song).
This happens almost every time and whether I have shuffle on or not. I've reinstalled the Spotify app, I've changed phones, and I've tried with other Bluetooth devices (speakers), but it only happens in the car. My husband's iPhone doesn't do it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Every once in a while, a member of the Spotify team pops in here and asks people for device information. Then we stop hearing from them for a while. I have been having this issue for many moths now, and I am losing my patience.
Just now I was listening to my Liked playlist on my computer, through Bluetooth speakers. I paused for about 10 minutes. After returning to my desk and clicking play, it just went in a reverse queue of all the songs I had playing until now.
Device information? Sure. ChromeOS device. It's the latest version of ChromeOS, and many versions before. Spotify web app. Whatever version you guys have live on the web, and many versions before that.
I have the same problem when using Android Auto in my Volvo V90.
I have a playlist on my phone which is sorted by date added (so the most recently added tracks are at the top).
If I start the playlist from Android Auto it will play the most recently added track, then rather than going to the 2nd track in the playlist it will go to the last (the oldest). I have to skip backwards through the playlist to move down the playlist in the order I would expect. This also happened in another car I owned with Android Auto.
This problem does not occur with other bluetooth speakers or headphones - only Android Auto.

My Question or Issue
Main issue: Spotify will not queue a playlist in the right order, when starting any song in any playlist.
Context: The issue resides in the interface between Android Auto and Spotify. When using Spotify through Android Auto, selecting a song from any random playlist will force the created queue to be based on bottom to top.
In this example, I have the following playlist:
In case you select (in Android Auto) for instance Song Z, it will queue Song Y + X. Would you select Song Y, it will queue Song X. This is not intended, and undesired.
In case you select (in Android, directly in Spotify App on the phone) for instance Song Z, it will queue nothing. Would you select Song Y, it will queue Song Z. This is intended and desired.
For clarification, this works as such while connected to the car (or not). All in all it will handle external prompts differently between interfacing through the phone or the display of Android Auto.
I've been suffering from this weird behavior "why does Spotify suddenly play tracks backwards, I just listened these?!" for a year I think. Thought I would also comment and report it. Everything is fine at home (Windows Desktop app), and IOS App using BT headphones, but when I connect my phone to AUX port on my car, current playlist tracks starts playing in reverse order! So it's definitely an external speaker issue for many, if not all, who have reported. But it's not Bluetooth-only issue. I don't know what triggers it, but it's annoying as **bleep**, especially when you're on car and the focus should be on the road.
Affected device: Apple Iphone 13 Pro
How issue occurs: When connecting 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable to my car, and other end to my IPhone, using 3.5mm->lightning adapter.
Spotify app version: 9.0.62.672
Edit: I've noticed that force closing Spotify mobile app solves the issue temporarily. What just happened is that, I was listening Spotify playlist in correct order using IPhone + BT headphones. Then I asked Siri to call someone. Then resumed playing Spotify, and after ongoing song, the next song was the one before, meaning it started going backwards. I then force closed Spotify (swiped app away on IPhone app switcher view) and playlist plays in correct order again.

My Question or Issue
When using Android Auto on my vehicle (2025 Acura TLX Type S), my playlist plays in reverse order. When playing that same playlist through my phone, it is back to the correct playlist order (last added).
This only happens with 1 specific playlist, not with any other playlists, and started happening around a month ago.
I have tried logging out and back in 2x in a row, clearing my cache, removing and re-adding my device to my vehicle, and restarting my phone.
Spotify played the song in reverse order, this time NOT with android auto. This is getting worse.
