I have no problem with a community coming together, or a company showing their political views, especially those that I agree with; but, Spotify's selection to exploit certain causes are, in my opinion, misguided. A business with the reach like that of Spotify should focus on other pressing issues. I'm American, and my concerns are almost exclusively related to America, however the philosophy can be applied on a global scale. Instead of supporting, so clearly, one side of a political debate, why doesn't Spotify focus on trying to fill the gap between people? Music has brought so many people together, and to see MY side of politics creating more distance between music lovers of different political choosings is painful. Never bring up a problem without a solution. I think that reasonable people of all ages, ideals, and political inclings can support the idea that we, as music lovers, are one community, and we need to get to know eachother. Part of the reason we have distance, is because we simply don't know eachother. I would truly enjoy following and sharing music with the listeners of countries who's governments are "in conflict" with mine. Think about it. The human element would finally have it's seat at the table. I would love to see what type of songs are trending in places like Iran, Afghanistan, China, Russia etc., and be able to communicate with the users of that region. It would help the average citizen understand the little nuances that are often overlooked in understanding foreign relations, and help bring a global community a bit closer together. Thank you all for taking time away from your day to read this. Don't forget to vote!
