Spotify Connect can't find Alexa devices

Solved!

Spotify Connect can't find Alexa devices

Trying to play on my alexa devices, but no devices appear in the Spotify Connect list.

If I start a Spotify Playlist in the Alexa app then go to Spotify it will be Connected. I can then control it freely.

- force stopped the app and cleared the cache, didn't help
‐ restarted my phone, didn't help
- updated Spotify, didn't help

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Just say, "Alexa, Spotify Connect" and you'll be golden.

Hi there @liminal1,

Thanks for reaching out!

Some users mentioned that saying "Alexa, Spotify Connect" solved the issue for them, can you give it a shot if you haven't already? We'd also recommend restarting your network hardware (such as a modem and router) and reconnecting your devices to it afterwards, as well as testing this out on a different network if available (a hotspot from your phone, for example). This way we can rule out any connectivity issues.

Keep us posted.

That's not a solution though. Are Alexa devices no longer supported in Spotify Connect?

How does this work with audio groups

Hi there @liminal1,

Thanks for the reply!

Alexa audio groups do work with Spotify Connect, but you'll need to set up multi-room music groups in the Alexa app first and then select those groups as the playback device within the Spotify app. Can you make sure you've gone through the setup process? The group name should also be something that Alexa can easily understand, such as "Kitchen", for example. Use names with at least two syllables and avoid special characters.

Afterwards, you can try saying "Play music on [group name]" or "Alexa, Spotify Connect" as already mentioned to see if it works. You can also set up a preferred speaker for the group of devices. Also, if you've used an Echo Show device to move streaming audio plays to a speaker group, make sure it appears as the preferred group selected.

Hope this clears things up, let us know how it goes.

Ok, thanks.

But the players are not working. My follow me music is completely broken

So If I call one of the Dots in an automation though the Home Assistant integration it does not work? Nothing happens

Hey @liminal1,

Thanks for the details! Could you let us know the exact process you're following when you're selecting your speakers and if you have issues choosing them via the Spotify app or only with the "follow me" function?

Much appreciated!

Spotify Connect API fails to transfer playback to sleeping Amazon Echo devices
Details:

* API: PUT /v1/me/player returns 404/500 errors for Echo Dots after ~10 minutes idle
* Problem: Devices show as "available" in /v1/me/player/devices but transfer fails
* Expected: API should wake sleeping devices like the mobile app does

Current Workaround: Using Alexa voice commands instead, but it's much slower than direct API transfers.
Request: Please fix Transfer Playbook API to wake sleeping Echo devices rather than failing. This affects all home automation systems using Spotify Connect.

Hey @liminal1,

Thanks for the reply!

So you're not going to fix it?

**bleep** you're an angel ily

Just to try and help anyone that finds this. Its broken, none of the Spotify responses will actually help you. Its something to do with the API that spotify cant or wont fix. If you used spotify connect to control Alexa devices the latest Dots, Pops and Spots do not support it. Maybe Amazon will not allow the API to wake devices. It's not clear.

At least this is a better response then you will get from Spotify... If it does not get deleted.
