Edit: When I pause, time sync, but only for time position. When play again it is stuck on this position.
Hey folks,
Thanks for all your help while our tech folks looked into this issue.
We’re happy to confirm that this should now be fixed for everyone. Please make sure your app is updated to the latest version. You can check for possible new version updates in the three dot menu that you can find on the left-top of your screen in the desktop app. There, select Help> About Spotify. If there’s a new version available, you’ll see a button “restart to install”.
If you're still having trouble, please send us the info we asked for previously here.
Thanks!
Hey folks,
Thanks for all your replies and for the info shared.
We really appreciate the time you took to let us know about this behavior. We went ahead and passed all this info on to the relevant team.
If you haven't yet, it'd be very helpful if you sent us:
We'll continue monitoring this thread and all your comments, so we can gather all the relevant info.
We'll be on the lookout!
1) Spotify for Windows (64-bit) 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29
2) Windows 10
3) the timebar problem occurs when you control Spotify Connect devices from the desktop application (always!)
4) concerns not only the timebar, but the responsiveness of all active buttons on the bottom bar, such as adding a song to favorites (only sometimes)
5) the version from the Spotify website and the Microsoft Store behaves the same, in addition, the one from the Microsoft Store freeze when you turn on Music Videos - which means this version is simply unusable, when version from website play Music Videos on the same system (yes, this is a different problem, but it says a lot about the quality control of the Spotify development department).
Thanks, I think this solved the problem for me.

My Question or Issue
Progress/time bar not moving, or it moves for a few seconds then stops. Recurring issue that I've seen for as long as Spotify has existed. And yes, I updated everything.
Seems like an issue with the newest update.
Same problem here.
1) Spotify for Windows (64-bit) 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29
2) Windows 11
3) Music doesn't synchronize between mobile devices and the desktop app. When I play music on the iOS app, the time bar and the lyrics are synchronized with the Android app, but the desktop app doesn't synchronize the time of the song and lyrics.
4) This problem occurs both on the app from the Microsoft Store and the version downloaded from the Spotify webpage. In my case installation of the previous version works, but as soon as the app updates, the issue reappears.
Same here, too. In Win10 (Spotify pour Windows (64 bits) - 1.2.40.599.g606b7f29), the software displays the correct song playing on my app, but not the current timestamp anymore. It's either 0:00 or it stops at 0:03. Please fix that.
Hey folks,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.
Could you let us know if this happens across devices or only on a specific one? Would you mind checking if the same happens while connected to a different network?
If this only happens on a specific device, it's well worth running a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.
If that doesn't do the trick, sending us a short screen recording would come in handy. You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).
Additionally, could you let us know the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your affected device(s)?
We'll be on the lookout.
Hi,
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.40.599.g606b7f29
The problem only happens when I connect across devices. It happens on the remote device (the one that is *not* playing the music). When playing locally the progress bar works fine. It works fine also if I open the spotify app locally on the device that is playing the music.
I made a clean install of Spotify on both devices, but the problem still happens.
Later I will make a screen recording and upload it.
Best,
Tal.
I have the same issue with the Spotify app on Linux (version 1.2.40.599 as well)
The progress does not update in the app itself when using Spotify connect (same as described here), but it updates correctly in the MPRIS controls of the same Spofity app (system wide media playback controls).
Hi there,
Devices and Versions:
Issue Description: Whenever I play a song on my Android (currently linked with my box, though the audio output doesn't affect the issue), the desktop client recognizes the song but the time bar is stuck at the last activity on the desktop. The time bar and lyrics work correctly when I play audio directly on my desktop. However, if the audio is played on my Android, the time bar on the desktop remains stuck.
I've made a quick recording showing both the Android and Desktop views while playing a song on my phone. The time bar on the desktop is stuck and only updates to the correct timestamp when I pause the song.
Steps Taken:
Screen Recording: I've created a screen recording about it here.
Could you please assist further?
Thank you for your help.
There you go. Note that when I transfer the playback to the 2nd device, the music is playing fine - it's only the local progress bar that isn't working. Also note that it updates (jumps from 21 to 32 sec) when I pause.
BTW, this is also preventing the lyrics synchronization from working.
The first clip is recorded from my phone, where I played the song, and the second is from the desktop app, where the issue appears. You can see that on the phone the lyrics are synchronized, but on the desktop, the timestamp stops at three seconds, and only the first verse is synchronized, although the song is playing on the phone for a while.
The lyrics and timestamp synchronize on the Android app and Web Player. Only the desktop app has issues.
In my case, the only method that worked was the installation of an older version of the Spotify desktop app. However, when the app updates automatically, the issue reappears.
I have this problem when using Spotify Connect to play a song from my Windows laptop to another device. Song plays perfectly but the song progress bar and timer, stops working. Song progress bar and timer stops only on the laptop, web player is fine, playing from android phone is OK as well.
Odd issue because when I pause the song the progress bar goes to the right time remaining. It does not run down when the song is unpaused. Seems like a synchronization issue.
Did a clean reinstall, rebooted the laptop and the ISPs wifi router - still no dice.

My Question or Issue
When playing a song on my phone the desktop app does not align the time with the phone. Instead, it remains at a fixed time (0:00 or 0:01 unless I've manually skipped to another point on the desktop). Is there a solution for this?
Fixed in last update 1.2.41.434.g39a25e2c.
Thx.
Yep. Seems to be fixed in the latest update. Thanks.
seems to be working now
