Starting playback on Chromecast from Google Assistant doesn't work

A few weeks ago starting Spotify playback on Google Chromecast devices via the Google Assistant stopped working. The command is understood correctly and the assistant acknowledges that it will start the playback, but it in fact it doesn't. Instead, nothing happens. Starting playback via the Spotify app manually works just fine, though.

I tested issuing voice commands on both my android phone (Pixel 6) and a Google Home Mini. Also I tested streaming to an Chromecast Audio as well as a Chromecast with Google TV.

I am also using a Google Nest Mini speaker and I often encounter problems on it, too.

Out of interest, after Google Assistant acknowledges the command, what's happening in the Spotify app on your phone? Also, does it vary depending on whether you ask it to play music or podcasts (I generally experience the issue with podcasts).

Something that usually works for me is doing the following:

1. Close and reopen the Spotify app on your mobile device
2. Select your Google Nest Mini speaker from the Connect menu in the Spotify mobile app
3. You might have to repeat the second step several times until a connection is established

It also helps to turn the Wi-Fi connection on your phone off and on again and/or resetting your Wi-Fi network.

I'm having the same problem with my Google Chromecast and Spotify. It worked perfectly until about a month and a half ago. I've tried updating the app, clearing cache, clearing data, unistall the app and reinstalling it. Opening it and closing it. Updated my android TV, factory reset it and have tried updating and factory resetting my Google Chromecast as well, but nothing changes. Everything else works apart from voice command on Spotify.

Same for me.  Nothing seems to be fixing this issue.  Assitant acknowledges the request and will even open Spotify, but then doesn’t pull up anything or play any music.
