Stream Keeps Cutting Out

Stream Keeps Cutting Out

I had been using the free version of Spotify and noticed that the stream kept getting interrupted (pausing). At first you'd assume a bandwidth issue my end. Unlikely as I am in a City and have a consistent 10mb connection.

Anyway to be sure I tried a well known UK competitor beginning with D and there was no issue streaming from them.

Must be the free service? So I upgraded to unlimited, still getting an interrupted stream!

I followed the uninstall and cache clearing procedure, the reinstalled and still no joy.

Currently I have a Spotify account that is unlistenable (if that is such a word) and I am having to use D(UK) in the meantime.

Suggestions?

Spotify cuts out. Has been for several days. Both on my PC and Mac (Lion). Use Clearwire ISP, but rest of my internet connection is just fine. Cleaned cache etc, no change.

@user-removed - If you check the console logs like outlined in this post do you see any error messages there?

Adding to the complaints about the streaming cutting out...

I was a HUGE Spotify fan when I first started using in fall 2012. No issues at all for about a year. Then for the past several months it started to skip out on me. Became soooooo annoying.

I tried:

- Getting a Spotify premium account

- Upgrading my router

- Even upgraded my computer

No luck. It's too bad cuz this was the greatest thing ever. Now it's just an annoyance.

I've contacted tech support several times and each time it's the same answer: "Uninstall then reinstall" ... I've done that five times. It still disappears on me.

Dear Spotfiy.... let me know when you figure this out. Until then, I'll be offline.

I just think if there is no activity from the user for awhile, spotify turns your stream off, saving them bandwidth usage from people who leave it running while not on their computer. They figure the rest of us can just restart.

Seriously, spotify, if this is the case, have you over-sold your badnwidth and looking for ways to save money? This is a poor solution that will result in you losing users in order to save bandwidth rather than increasing your capability and keeping them.

That's pretty unlikely since the desktop client uses P2P currently.

Hello I'm new to this forum but I got a fix for this problem....
I am currently running Spotify free version after having premier version for 3 months and I have been experiencing the same problem with music cutting out.
If you opened Spotify on a computer and then open Spotify on a ipad the music starts cutting out...( 2 devices connected)
Going back when I had premium package I think when you tried to connect a second device spotify used to say this account is open on another device which it does not say anything now when you connect 2 devices.
If I only connect one device I do not have any issues with it cutting out
Give it a go and let me know if this fixed it for you.

hi,  I have just had the same problem for first time today. Have been using it happily on same Mac, same wireless connection, same OS.  I have unlimited Spotify subscription, and music keeps cutting out, and have to press the play button to continue?

Any advice please...?

I'm seeing a similar issue. Inconsistently a song will play with intermittent pauses. Hitting pause/play has no effect, and the music eventually comes back, but it happens several times during the songs it happens on. It's inconsistent in that it doesn't happen on the same songs twice. It does tend to cluster when it happens, meaning that when it happens to one song, it feels like a 1 in 3 chance that it will happen on subsequent songs. This has been happening for over a month now.

I have a Premium account, OSX Yosemite, a great internet connection at both home and office, and no other issues with other media streams in other applications at the same time.

This is pretty infuriating. It makes my paid Spotify account unusable at times.

Along the same lines, but I'll occasionally get this when listening to artists who are known to have extended songs (lengths exceeding 15:00). It won't cut out but the commercials will start playing and skip to the next song. Obviously I dont have premium, but this is an annoying issue.

There's a reason artists create masterpieces, and if I can't listen to their entire production why should I pay money for a subscription when the free version is showing these issues? It reduces my confidence in knowing my money would be worth it.

Spotify has just started to cut out for me now. Reading through the threads it looks like it could be an update from either Spotify or Apple!?!? As I updated my machine last night to the latest fix.

I can't listen to my spotify.

I just started having this issue today. I did not update my mac nor my spotify. I'm a premium user. Music streaming keeps cutting off when spotify is playing on the background. Everything goes back to normal when I stay on spotify and do nothing else! And I'm not doing any hard processing stuff on my computer. I'm writing an email or something, and the stream starts cutting off again!

I quit and restarted my spotify, and it seemed to do an update on my spotify, and I haven't had that problem anymore. I will update this if the issue reoccurs!

I am having the exact same issue on the latest version of Spotify on OSX. When I stay in the window it is fine, but as soon as I minimize it I get the issue. Sometimes it is ok for a while, othertimes its basically unlistinable. I'm not behind a proxy or anything like that and there does not appear to be anything wrong with my internet connection.

I'm also having this issue. It is very annoying as it makes my spotify premium account completly useless. Every few seconds it cuts the music for 2 seconds or so.

Isn't there anymore info on this? When will it be fixed? Is the issue confirmed by Spotify staff?

I feel kinda let down as I'm paying for Spotify premium for a while now and it seems this critical issue is getting almost no attention. It should have been fixed a long time ago.

Having the same problem, its useless to have a premium acc if its keeps cutting.... really dissapointed.

Me too.  It seems completely random for the most part, however when I'm browsing the web while spotify runs in the background I get more drop-outs.  I've a high-speed DSL connection that can DL around 24 Mb p/s, so 320k shouldn't be a problem - yet here I am with streaming problems.  Maybe Spotify Canada hasn't got their sh*t together yet?  My free premium subscription runs out next month, I was going to keep it but now I'll probably test out Google.

It's the same issue for me, only I'm on my cellphone. Primium service I can't listen to because any song I play cuts in and out. I could have just watched music videos on YouTube for free for the same quality of music. If it's not corrected soon, I will be canceling Spotify. I'm horribly disappointed, my fiance has Spotify and has no problems , just doesn't have premium..

It's not Canada..I'm in the USA ..not far from Windsor and experiencing streaming issues as well

I quit using premium a long time ago. This issue just never got resolved.
You have my sympathy!
