Turn off autoplay recommended songs on playlists

Turn off autoplay recommended songs on playlists

You recently implemented a feature which changed the shuffle button functionality and added recommended songs HOWEVER there is no way to stop the "recommended songs" autoplaying when the playlist reaches the end. Need to be able to stop the auto play. I add specific songs to playlists, if there is a recommended song I want to play as part of the playlist, I will add it to the playlist. It should NOT autoplay unless the user has chosen it to do so. Playlists are created specifically so that only certain songs are played. It defeats the entire point of them if you start autoplaying random ones based on some algorithm.

Contacted support about this and went through a few tests on both the web player and ios app (e.g. shuffle turned off, etc.) and there is currently no way to stop the autoplay. This needs to be added!

Hey @CJsMusic101,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, there's already a setting to disable the Autoplay feature, so let us add some insights. On the mobile app version, you can find this option by following these steps:

  1. Swipe left or tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Settings and privacy.
  3. Go to Playback.
  4. Make sure the Autoplay similar content feature is toggled off.

On the desktop app, you can select your profile image, and you'll see a drop-down menu. There, select Settings. You should find the Autoplay setting under the Explicit Content option. Make sure it's switched off there as well.

If you're having issues finding this feature, please let us know. Please send us the make/model and OS of the device you're using, along with the Spotify version you're running there.

Just a friendly reminder: our free experience on mobile is different; the app adds suggested tracks within the same album/playlist. This is not the same as Autoplay. You can read more about it here. Keep in mind, these recommendations are going to appear, even if you disable Autoplay. If your account is free, then it'd be expected.

Keep us in the loop!

Just play one song from the playlists, so the smart shuffle mode is disabled. It doesn't matter if you have shuffle mode on or off, it doesn't respect the playlist and plays music from any genre. The error occurs on iOS and Windows 11. I've cleared the cache and reinstalled the app, but it doesn't work.
