Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

Solved!

Unable to remove songs from Discover Weekly

I'm on the premium plan, using the Windows desktop app version of Spotify.  I'm trying to remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, since it's been there before and I didn't think much of it the first time.  The button to do this has been removed.  I can find old posts explaining where it is, and it's not there any more.  How do I remove this song from my playlist?

Monthly subscriber here. I have always liked the Discover Weekly thumbs down. But that may have been too harsh, that we disliked the song. So it changed to a hide song icon. Now we can't do that anymore. Please bring back the thumbs down.

Yeah, hate this. I've just begun ignoring the artists.

There used to be a button on the weekly playlist that allowed you to specify if you didn't like a song/artist and now that's gone. Seems a bit unproductive to remove functionality that allows your users to train the algorithm better.

Ab-so-LUTE-ly.

I'd also like an option to say, "never play this song, or any same recording, ever again because I hate it".

I'm a long term user of spotify. If this feature is not added back, I'm going to deezer. I'm tired of spotify shenanigans. There is absolutly not technical reason that make sense for this to be removed. You are just trying to remove that so that you can fill playlist with spotify crappy AI generated songs.

I've had the exact same problem. Worse at the moment because Spotify have recommended a track on the playlist by a registered **bleep** offender, and I don't want that person getting money from my plays. I've seen the "solution" that this is stilla work in progress but I'd really appreciate a fix! I don't want money going to a nonce.

I cant remove songs from the weekly list AND cant do anything against the amount of AI slop that spotify tries to push on me, i really start wondering why exactly i should keep paying money for it...

Spotify is removing the "hide' feature to add the ability for companies to pay for the ability to add songs to people's discoveries.

This is my suspicion as well.  There's lots of poor quality ambient music in my feed (I like ambient, but not generated stuff).  I wouldn't be surprised if Spotify have gotten caught up in the AI bubble, as well as wanting to sneak in advertising into the Premium tier in the form of song plays that publishers can purchase.  That would all be quite unfortunate.  But this is probably the latest fad that the MBAs have landed on, forgetting that their customers have a choice.

I've seen references to Deezer, to YouTube Music, and to Tidal.  Anything else worth checking out?

I'm afraid ye might be right. It's taking too long to put that hide button back, my patience is wearing out. I don't see the point in paying for Spotify when I can't discover new music (sorry, can't call this AI generated cr@p music).

Thanks for the tips, hadn't considered Tidal yet. I'll be checking out Amazon Music as well.

i know its silly but i find this solution. i am creating a new playlist named discover weekly and dublicate song to that list. then remove songs which i didn't liked. i hope they bring back our remove command.

It's not that silly, some of us had already suggested this hack in this and other threads on this topic.
It's a workaround for now, but should be only temporary. It doesn't mean Spotify shouldn't bring back the hide button.

It's so frustrating to have my desktop app basically be a second class citizen to the mobile app. I recognize that the majority of users use the mobile app, but given that I'm paying money, I should be able to expect comparable features whether I use the desktop or mobile. I shouldn't have to grab my phone to remove a song from my discover list if I'm actively using my desktop spotify.

Please reinstate the 'hide' or 'dislike' button in the 'Discover Weekly' list. This is very frustrating -- and even potentially triggering and damaging to listeners' mental health. For example, in my current weekly list, a song about suicide started playing. I'm not suggesting that Spotify sequester all music about suicide/death; however, I should be able to remove it from a playlist.
