I only really have a Spotify account for rain podcasts which help me relax and help me sleep. Recently you have decided to include adverts before and during podcasts ruining the whole experience, especially when I'm alseep as they wake me up, or when I'm trying to get to sleep. Hearing adverts about Ovo energy of Macmillan cancer is really annoying and really frustrating especially as i have a premium account to not hear adverts. The ads are also much louder than the podcasts themselves. It just smacks of utter greed and avarice. Not content with a monthly subscription, and after recently increasing the cost of the monthly subscription, the greedy greedy people at Spotify now want more money whilst simultaneously ruining the experience for their customers. Get rid of these ads or I will not be renewing my subscription. The greed of some people is utterly disgusting.
Ads are paying for your rain sounds, sir. Podcasts arenโt the same as music licenses- they require a different source of funding.
I guess youโre right though. The non-greedy thing would be for you to get what you want without making any sacrifices, and for Spotify or independent content creators to foot the bill for you.
Buy a noise machine my man.
What a load of absolute nonsense. I've been using these rain podcasts for years with no adverts up until very recently. I'm already paying a premium sub, so I don't expect any adverts, Not only are the ads at the start of the podcast, they are every few minutes, are much louder than the podcast and ruin the whole experience making it pointless to listen to. It's all about greed, greed and greed which has now ruined their product. How much money do these greedy people need? I definitely won't be renewing my sub.
Why not just listen to a rain playlist on repeat - like this one.... https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4GQXLaXIWecn9Klf8dUlJr?si=7daf6699de5048cb
You are absolutely right! I am also a premium payer and have exactly the same problem as you. I also like to listen to podcasts to help me fall asleep, and it used to work perfectly until a few months ago. I suddenly began to get all sorts of ads while listening and the volume of the ads are indeed much louder and it makes me wake up everytime. Also, in the past if I chose a certain podcast, it would play all the stories in that podcast all night. Around the same time I started getting the annoying loud ads, I also got the problem that Spotify just stops playing after a few stories and then I have to press the play button regularly again. I am fed up with Spotify too and will end my subscription as well. Paying to get ads is not what I signed up for. And they refuse to do something about it.
You talk a bunch of baloney!
To be fair to spotify. The no ads in premium service was before they went so deep on podcasts. I also find it frustrating. I'm looking forward to day spotify brings out a podcast premium subscription. The question is, how much more would you be willing to pay for no ads on podcasts?
Spotify do already sponsor podcasts, so not all pods need adverts to monetize their content, but the greedier ones do it anyway. I have no issue with sponsorships or blatant product placement but ads do grate.
A nice touch would be if Spotify would label pods "advert free" or at least "contains ads". This would make it clearer and discourages podcast content providers from going down the tedious advert rabithole.
