Family plan & different devices

Family plan & different devices

Hi, I have my Spotify account running on my iPhone and Sonos connect:amp (the same account). I've just subscribed to Family Premium - I wanted to be able to listen music on my phone and on Sonos simultaneously (while I'm at work and my wife is at home). But I cannot do this as Spotify disallows me to listen to music on both devices at once.

I want to have only 1 account both on my iPhone and Sonos because of my playlists, etc.

What should I do?

Hey @damiankrol,

Unfortunately, it won't be possible for you to listen on two devices at the same time when only using one account.

You'll have to create another account for this, and you can then follow your playlists from that account to listen to them on that other device 🙂

But if he "follows" the playlists from one account to the other, he can't update them from both places, can he?

If I listen at home on my Sonos-specific Spotify account, and add a song to the playlist, my device will also have access to the song in the playlist. But it doesn't work the other way around -- I can't add a song to the playlist from work (because I'm only "following" it), and have it update on the Sonos account at home.

Am I right?

This seems like such a basic function... The whole reason I got a Family account was so I could listen to my music on the road while the fam is listening at home. But now I have to set up a convoluted series of shares, and curate my playlists only from one account.

There HAS to be a much simpler way to do this...

Couldn't you make your playlist collaborative so that the other account you have can also change it? That way you are not simply just following it.

That would be great, and I've tried that. But can I make them collaborative
in a way that the whole world can't add their songs to my private
playlists? There seems to be no option just to collaborate with a select
few users.

They implemented an idea making it so that the only way people can access collaborative playlists is if they are shared with them.

Great, thanks for your ideas and contribution to the initial issue.

But this still does not resolve the following:

1. My friends don't know what I'm listening on my Sonos-specific account - since I'm not able to connect 2 accounts with 1 Facebook account (or can I?)

2. Sonos-specific account does not have my favorites (artists, songs, etc.) - is there any way to synchronize favorites between accounts?
