Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out.
You can leave a Premium Family plan the same way you would cancel a subscription. Just follow these steps: https://support.spotify.com/article/cancel-premium/.
Let me know how it goes 🙂
Could you explain this to me again, somehow the problem in this post you refer to here seems totally different to mine. So I've always been on a family plan and now I want to open my own, I'm on it, but I'm still on the same family plan as before and I can't get out of it, so as a subscription manager I can cancel my own family plan.
I was simply added to my previous plan automatically, and have no permissions there so that I could remove members or cancel myself.
Hey @interester,
I apologize for including the wrong link in my first post.
From your description, it sounds like you’ve been a member of a Premium Family plan, but now you want to start your own plan where you’re the owner.
If you’re unsure how to leave the current plan, here are the steps:
Following these steps will remove you from the current plan.
If you’re paying for that subscription but you’re still just a member, you’ll need to reach out to the plan’s owner. They can either cancel the subscription or update the payment method.
I hope this helps! 🙂
Hi @Maxim,
Thank you for the efforts, but unfortunatelly this way also doesn't work. I understand what you mean, but at the second step if I go manage my plan, the only opportunity that I have there is to extend my current family plan, I can't leave that at this point, or change to another plan.
Best thanks,
Hey @interester,
Thanks for providing the screenshot 🙂
It looks like you’re actually the owner of the Premium Family plan, not a member, which is why you’re only seeing the option to renew or extend the plan.
Since you’re seeing this option, it means the plan has already been canceled. The screenshot also confirms the date when both you and all other members of the plan will revert to Spotify’s Free plan.
If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
The problem is that I have only paid myself, but I am not the Abo Manager. I want to open my own family plan, but my account was automatically added to the existing family plan. When I go to manage members, I have no option to add or remove someone. I also don't have the option of leaving the existing family plan by myself. I can only see the other members.
This existing plan was cancelled by the Plan Manager a month ago. After that, my account was once again a Spotify free plan account.
I then switched back to Spotify Premium and paid for a family plan. But now comes the problem:
My account was just automatically added back to the family plan where I've been in before and I can't find a way how to leave this family plan and create my own, so that I could now add the members I want to have in.
Hey @interester,
Thanks for the additional details. I'm trying to get more info on how to proceed in this case and will let you know as soon as I hear back.
Hi @Maxim
Thank you, very much
Hey again, @interester,
Thanks for your patience while I was waiting on a response.
In this case, it'd be best to reach out to Spotify's customer service team, as they'll be able to take a closer look at your account and make changes, if needed: https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/ 🙂
Hope this helps!
