Refusing to accept invitation codes - cannot set up family account

We are attempting to set up a family account. Invites sent, process followed. Once the free accounts are set up and we move onto to redeem to uplift ‘free’ to ‘premium’  the invitation codes keep getting refused as they are ‘not valid’. They are 100% correct, checked and checked again.
