My Question or Issue
I have setup a managed account (under 13 years old) in our family plan. But this new account doesn't seem to be able to connect to our living room speakers using Spotify connect.
I tried logging in myself on the Spotify app on their tablet and I can see and use the speakers fine using my Spotify account. Logging out and logging in again as the new account and the device is not visible again.
Hey @kigurai,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.
Spotify Connect is currently not supported on managed accounts, however, you should still be able to connect to the speakers using Bluetooth.
We hope this helps. We're here for you in case you have any other questions.
Just realized this limitation as well. My son can no longer play music on his smart speaker via google cast. I'm gutted because I was thrilled about getting rid of the brainrot youtube videos from his spotify experience.
Please fix this!
My Question or Issue
I recently switched my kid's account to a managed account to get rid of all the podcast and video content that is not appropriate. This works great on their tablet as it also removes all video content which is distracting.
I have a problem however linking the managed account to both Sonos and Google Home. We have both devices around the house and it would be great to link these to the managed account as default, since they are always requesting music to the voice assistants.
In Sonos case, the account authorization is done through a browser, for which I cannot use credentials or the QR code, if I input the managing account credentials I get an error as its already added in Sonos. For Google Home/Assistant, it does not redirect to a browser and uses the active Spotify app account, however when I try to add the music service to Spotify, I get the terms of service and user agreement, and when I agree there is no error, account simply is not linked.
Is this expected to work or do I need to revert the account to non-managed? Managed account has been working great except for this.
I have the same experience as above, when connecting Google Home to Spotify with a Managed Account active, no matter if the managing account is signed in or the QR code is used, the link is not performed and you're back at the link page without the account being linked.
I don't really care for the managed account, I just want my son kept away from videos. That's not what Spotify is for IMHO. I'm fine with the option to disable it for our complete subscription. But the Google Home Control is a basic feature for us.
