Spotify in car switched to Echo Show 500 miles away

I was driving, playing Spotify via USB cable in a rental car. Suddenly my father's music on the Amazon Echo Show. 500 miles away, was playing in the car. The only way to fix it was to tell my father he could not use the Echo.

Thanks for reaching out. This sounds like you're just both logged into the same account. You can only play on one device at a time with one account so starting the playback from anywhere will interrupt the playback on any other devices connected to this account. To avoid any such confusion and for privacy's sake, it's best that each person uses their own separate account and that you never share your account details with anyone.

So my dad in the house - age 90 and no, he's not getting an account - can't play Spotify from any house device while I'm using Spotify in the car? This is stupid. Why am I paying for a family account when multiple devices can't be used.

Hi @Farfromanyhome,

That's not how the Family/Duo Plans work. With those, each person must still have their own separate account and the limit of playing on only one device at a time still applies. Having Family or Duo doesn't circumvent this. Instead, these plans allow multiple people living together to all use Premium at a lower price.
