i used my student discount yesterday to sign up for premium and the money has gone out of my bank account but my account isnt working in premium it is saying the subscription is free? ive tried logging out and back in but still nothing works?

Have you received a receipt from Spotify via Email?
It's very likely just a pending charge if you haven't received a receipt from Spotify via Email: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/managing_payments/pending-charges/
