Please Update the Gender Options in Account Settings 💛🌈

Hi everyone,

I’m a brand-new Spotify user and wanted to share a concern I had while signing up. When asked to select my gender, the options were:
"Man," "Woman," and "Something else."

I’m a proud, ruffle-wearing, dress-loving woman—and even I felt the sting of that phrasing.

Referring to anyone’s gender as “something else” is dismissive. It creates a sense of “otherness” instead of belonging. I can only imagine how painful it might feel for someone who’s trans, nonbinary, or still finding the words for who they are.

There’s a better way. Spotify could offer:

• Man

• Woman

• Nonbinary

• Prefer not to say

• Custom (with a respectful text field)
  Or simply make gender optional unless it’s necessary to the experience.

This is my first impression of Spotify—and I care enough to say something. I believe this platform wants to do better. Let’s hold the door open for more people to feel seen, welcomed, and represented.
