Question of the Week: Share a song that took multiple listens for you to fully appreciate it

Happy Friday, Community! It's time for a new Question of the Week (QOTW).

This QOTW is about songs that sound even better to you upon repeated listens. I've noticed that sometimes, I already enjoy a song by the first listen; however, I think that what is more interesting is when I don’t fully appreciate a track until returning to it some time later—only then do I realize how great it sounds.

Since I’m curious as to whether this phenomenon has happened for other Community members as well, the question for this week is:

*** What's an example of a song that took multiple listens for you to fully appreciate it? ***

Post an answer below to be part of the conversation, and tell why you chose your answer! (You can also share a link to the song that comes to mind in your reply 😀)

Oh, this topic was created at the right time! 🤣

So, yesterday, I played "Clarity" by Zedd and Foxes.

After a DECADE, I said "wow, this song is really good." 😅

As far as recent songs, "About Damn Time" by Lizzo, "As It Was" by Harry Styles, and "Hot Ish" by Cardi, Lil Durk, and Kanye.

This is one of my childhood songs, I used to hear in the radio back then. Now after hearing it again few weeks ago, after more then 20 years, damn I think it's a masterpiece of a song and such a talented Band. I can't stop listening to it! I don't know, I think it was an other Music-World back then, so many unique styles and very creative Music-Videos. 😎

Thanks for sharing, @artisvida  and @Lobedar! It’s great to hear that you now enjoy these songs after returning to them.

For me, one example that comes to mind is the track “Raging Mammoth” by the heavy psych band Ryte:

According to my Last.fm library, I’d listened to this song as early as May 2020. It was around that time that I discovered their song “Shaking Pyramid” and added it to my Spotify playlists. Yet “Raging Mammoth” (their most-streamed track) took me several listens throughout the past couple of years or so before I returned to it again just a few days ago, finally really appreciating the song from beginning to end and adding it to my playlists as well.

Cheers!
