Hey folks,
We from the Community team have a little game for you. It's called "Tell us your "dream feature". Here's what it's about:
- in this thread you can share a proposition and explain a “dream feature” or enhancement for the Spotify app, desktop or web-player and mockup/example use case.
Let your imagination run free. We would love to hear you ideas!
Disclaimer: this is just for fun. Spotify will not be implementing the ideas.
I'd love to see the Friends Activity feature on the mobile app. This would be a game-changer, allowing users to socialize through music. Back in 2022, Spotify even tested this functionality, generating excellent opinions and speculation on forums like Reddit and X. With the recent announcement of the in-app chat and the high user expectation, this would be a logical and exciting next step for the platform.
I would also love a chat room feature.
YouTube had this exact feature to watch videos and chat with other people at the same time from 2007-2009 and it was called "YouTube Streams". This was my main way to listen to music on the computer before I eventually joined Spotify. It was open for all to share music and chat. I miss those days... My "The Best Songs On The Planet" stream was often on the front page of the most active chat rooms.
Back in the early days of Spotify, the desktop app had a third party app integration and on the apps page there was an app for music chat rooms called Soundrop.
Spotify Hi-Fi & Lossless. I can clearly hear the difference with other streaming platforms like Qobuz.
lossless! promised since years
I’ve been a loyal Spotify user for years, but I’m really disappointed that the promised lossless audio still hasn’t arrived. Other streaming services have been offering it for a long time, and it feels like Spotify is falling behind. I really hope they finally deliver what they announced years ago.
Wow! Thanks everyone for the replies! What a great hub of ideas this has become 🎉
True, I am a fan also
The fearure to be able to invite people to a "Jam" instead of being hijacked all the time. So tired of people, including my kids, going in and changing the music all the time. Please 🙏
Is it only me who experience this as annoying?
Less commercials, I think I hear the same 3 after 3 songs I swear, just get into a groove working and keep hearing this stupid good morning commercial all evening and into the night
My dream feature would be for Jam to actually work the way it is described in the marketing: true real-time synchronization of sound across different devices in the same room. This is exactly what the Swedish company Sound Dimension has developed. Their patented technology, called AiFi Together, has already proven to increase engagement in social music listening. Best of all for the streaming service, it comes with a very attractive licensing model, creating a true win–win for everyone involved.
My ideal feature is something so basic, that the shuffle button is actually random and not an algorithm playing songs from the artists I listen to the most. I'd like this "shuffle" option to be deactivated and be random. Even if I have to skip through several songs until I find the one I want to hear or rediscover a song I liked years ago, I wouldn't mind, but I really would like to be given that option and not have it forced on me.
or that in settings allows you to deactivate that "random" function.
Stop adding AI 'artists'. They aren't musical artists, and stop making them 'artist verified." Again..not a real artist
Hi everyone,
My dream feature would be a built-in Smart Trend Tracker that lets users follow real-time topics or moods through music. For example, if someone is working, relaxing, or tracking daily trends, Spotify could automatically create playlists based on what’s currently popular or relevant.
It would mix AI suggestions with real-world trends, perfect for people who like staying updated while enjoying their favorite music.
What do you all think? Would something like this make your listening experience more personal?
You know how sometimes we end up liking a song under peer pressure (which turns into offspring pressure later on life 😂) so the algorithm can be getting wrong ideas about our musical tastes and preferences? So it might be kind of cool to have the app touch base with the user every once in a while, especially when it comes to tracks played only once, say, two years earlier.
Shuffle that actually shuffles.
I wish the chat feature inside Spotify worked in a simpler way. I can’t send messages to mutual followers. We’ve already exchanged music sharing links, but it still didn’t unlock the option. It could be simpler — if two people follow each other, it should already be possible to send private messages.
I’d like to share songs with my friends directly within the app, but I can’t. Only through other apps.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
