What about songs less than 30 seconds?

What about songs less than 30 seconds?

So I heard that a play on Spotify is 30 seconds. What about songs that are less than 30 seconds? How do those count as a play? Do they not get counted?

Ps: Sorry if this is the wrong category; this is my first time every posting to the community and I don't know what category fits best where.

Hello @heartmusic_473

As I unserstand it, if a song is less than 30 seconds it does not count as a play and does not generate a revenue for its artist. This should not be a problem because very few songs are so short and most of them are intros or similar stuff. There is more info on what count as a play in this thread

but some songs are less than 30 seconds but still have plays. e.g. a 26 second song on mac miller's kids with 3'304 plays, how does that work?

I think people played those tracks on repeat thus listening to them longer than 30 seconds. That would explain that those tracks still heave streams, but just a tiny amound compared to other tracks.
