Premium Individual
Turkey/Germany
My Question or Issue
Im using a German Spotify Account for an Plugin (Developer Mode Activated here:
https://developer.spotify.com/dashboard). In the Plugin im using the
- user-read-playback-state
- user-modify-playback-state
- user-read-currently-playing
For the authentication im using the:
- spotifyclientid
- spotifyClientSecret
- spotifyRedirectUri
- spotifyAuthCode
I followed the Tutorial of (https://github.com/joeyhage/homebridge-spotify-speaker)
and with the german Spotify account everything works.
But know I have tried to do the same for a good friend, but he has a Turkish Spotify account.
With that I get the error code in the Screenshot.
Could it be, that the error is that his account is to new? He has created his account a few days ago and at Spotify u get 30 days free to test? In his Account info it says:
TRIAL SUBSCRIPTION
Premium Individual
The ReadMe of the GitHub repo says: "Note that Spotify Premium is required in order to use the Connect API.", so I think it doesn't work, because the Turkish account is not Premium.
So it would mean, that he will have to wait until the 30 days free ends and only after this its a "real" premium account?
🤔 That must not be the problem.
Your friend could also be forgotten to hit Save after entering the redirect URI at the Dashboard of the app.
Already checked.
For clarification: did you generate the token for him, did you provide your client id, or did your friend all the steps them selfs?
Only the last would work: your friend needs to do everything themselves.
I did everything for him, I have used his Client ID etc.
I don't know this good enough but how I understand is that it's failed to fetch the token.
For the Auth Code I used the URI: https://example.com/callback and it asks me for my conformation like on my own account, so everything looks right. I also get the AuthCode in the link, no errors or so. don't know why.
Because apps start in Development Mode, only his account works with his Client ID, and only your account works with yours.
Also, if he wants to use the plugin, he should log in; not you.
(Edit: You can make a web app work for other accounts by adding them to the dashboard of the app, but I think that is not a solution in this case. More about it here: https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/concepts/quota-modes)
I have logged into his account, not into mine. So im logged in with his account on Spotify, Spotify Developer and so on.
After I go to: "https://accounts.spotify.com/authorize?client_id={clientId}&response_type=code&redirect_uri=https://... (with his values of ClientID) I have to give the permission and at the bottom to give access for his account.
And did he use the code within 60 minutes, because an Access Token expires after that timeframe.
