Get artist image URL

When using the api I search for artists using their id and store the artists cover image that way but, what I noticed is that all of the URLs share a similar format: "https://i.scdn.co/image/ab6761610000e5eb" followed by 24 more characters. So I was wondering if these characters are somehow related to an artist's id and if one can use an artist's ID to directly find these last 24 characters and find an artist's cover image directly instead of through the api.
