There seems to be no option anymore to request extended quota mode. If you have an app in development mode and controlling 25 users that can use it, how are you meant to deploy for commercial use and reach 250K MAUs and then be eligible for an extended quota. The app which is progress is a simple app using the sdk for authorisation and app remote.
Given the current limitations, how are developers expected to scale their apps beyond the 25-user cap? Is there a new process in place for transitioning from development to commercial production, or am I missing something?
Wondering the same, I can't find how to ask for extended quota while I'm soon about to launch my app... How can you expect developers to go from 25 users to 250k MAU?
Hi @devthedev07 and @Tanict
Thank you for asking this in the Spotify Community!
According to this article about Quota Modes, as of May 15th 2025, Spotify only accepts applications only from organizations (not individuals). Application must be sent through a company email by using the form linked at that page.
I hope this answers your question. If you have further questions, feel free to ask.
Hi @Ximzend
No that doesn't answer any question, we already know that.
I do own an organization, so I technically can fill the application form, but let's review the criteria.
Some people have dedicated years of their lives building projects and ideas around Spotify (7 years in my case) but Spotify decided to kill these projects, communities and the developers behind it.
"Active and Launched Service" is probably referring to integrating Spotify into apps that already have huge users outside of music. For example, a developer of smt like Uber or Tiktok might add a feature to display Spotify music on users' profiles. On the otherhand, this announcement essentially rules out the idea of developing an app only for Spotify from start and reaching 250,000 monthly users. For the sake of their server resources.
Me too man, this is a complete joke. If they don't undo this in the next months I really consider quitting Spotify.
