Not allowed to use Spotify API for games. What is considered a game?

Not allowed to use Spotify API for games. What is considered a game?

So in the "Disallowed use cases" for the Spotify API it says:

  • Games or trivia quizzes: Incorporating Spotify into any gaming or quiz functionality. For example, a “name that tune” quiz would not be allowed.

This is quite vague I feel since "game" is a broad term. Is there a way to get more information and examples on what would be considered as games? Maybe if the reason would be stated for this restriction it could be more clear to understand if the app one is developing would be considered as a game. There are applications out there that for sure are games and are using the Spotify API so the restriction does not seem to be for every app which makes it a bit more confusing. Multiple threads on this topic already I know but unfortunately without a satisfying answer so bringing this back to life again.

I guess the board game "Hitster" is illegal then?

If not illegal, then why is this game allowed?

I agree that this is a bit unclear, and why do some apps get an exception to the rule?
For example the game mentioned above seems to be using the sdk (Check Hitster on the UK app store).

And why does this restriction exist?

Because they are just accepting random extensions. They barely look at the request. It is a matter of luck sometimes.
