Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the โ€œios-streaming-sdkโ€, they are very few and donโ€™t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Is there a particular reason Spotify is not going to allow ASD to continue to work with their product? Royalties, artistic pressure, etc? Itโ€™s really the only reason I purchased the Premium plan. Please reconsider! If ASD goes away, so will I.

I will be cancelling my Spotify Premium if they do not reconsider this.

Please don't take away this feature. It makes my life as a musician 20x easier!

This is a decision that will affect my career and artistic routine. Don't block the option to use ASD to slow down music.

Iโ€™ve been using this app for college Iโ€™m in a producer class and I use this to mix songs in real time with my favorite streaming app Spotify so it goes hand in hand please donโ€™t remove

Hi. Im an pro musician and use the slowdown and pitch function with Spotify and Amazing Slowdowner all the time.

If this function stop working I will not pay for Spotify Premium anymore!

Lasse Bjurhรคll.

As music instrument teacher,  I need amazing slowdowner streaming with Spotify for my student .

if Spotify cut, I cut Spotify.

I'm going to Apple Music definitely.

Please, keep the feature. The ability to slowdown and loop songs using the amazing slow downer is a game changed for my guitar practice.

Iโ€™ve made a switch to spotify just because i wanted to use amazing slow downer to practice music. itโ€™s been the only convenient way i (and perhaps also many others could rely on) please re-consider this decision and re-enable the feature (or make an exception for ASD).

Spotify Why are you doing this? You need musicians to create new music for your platform but yet you are prepared to take away the tools a musician uses. Absurd and appalling approach. This just shows a complete lack of support for us.

i know that a lot of musicians are going to switch to other platforms (youtube, apple music etc.) if spotify doesnโ€™t reconsider this decision, since AMS is the most convenient way out there to slow down and practice a piece of music, especially on phone. Please re-consider this decision

Spotify sure has been doing everything they can to alienate all of us musicians over the years. This is my final straw and all of my students

Please keep Spotify compatible with the amazing slowdowner!

Please continue to allow Amazing Slow Downer to access Spotify playlists.  It's one of the main reasons I am a Spotify Subscriber.  It's very helpful to me when learning new songs (drums).  Thank you for your consideration.

yes, agreed!!

Well, I cancelled my Spotify and got Apple Music. They gave me 2 months free to start out and Iโ€™ve got it working with ASD. There are a few functions that are limited such as EQ and Pitch. The pitch missing is a bummer for transposition or a student who forgot their capo, but I will make due; as well as the eq when trying to hear specific notes that are hard to hear without pulling other instruments out of the mixโ€ฆ however. Iโ€™m up and going with Apple Music and have enough functionality with it to completely replace Spotify.  The ONLY reason Iโ€™ve used Spotify for the last decade was because of the integration with ASD. Apple Music is now my music platform. Spotify, youโ€™re failing your users here.

The whole reason I purchased this app and subscribed to Spotify was to enable me to slow tracks down so I could learn the invaluable skill of transcription of solo's from my favourite Jazz Sax player's in order to play along with the artist at a speed I can achieve.

The removal of the use of Spotify with the app will mean that I cannot do this so therefore there is no reason as to why I should pay a monthly fee to Spotify and will certainly be re evaluating my premium membership.

Thanks for the info. yeah...I've used Apple music before. I prefer
Spotify's platform. But I'll switch if I have to.

Please reconsider your decision.  Please allow streaming Spotify content in a way that works for slowing down audio.  This will affect Amazing Slow Downer for iOS and Android starting September 1, 2022.  I love Spotify because it is compatible with this AMAZING SLOW DOWNER because it's a great resource for music lovers and musicians.  If this is service is no longer provided I will have to switch to APPLE MUSIC and refer many of my students and clients to APPLE MUSIC as well.  I wish to not do this, but if this service is no longer offered I will close my spotify account.  Please reconsider your decisions!

Will cancel Spotify account if they don't support amazing slow Downer
