We have been using those SDKs since they became available.
Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.
We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.
We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".
We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.
We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.
We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.
Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.
You write:
"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?
Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I also use this feature as a Dance teacher and would be forced to move to another streaming service. Please reconsider this decision Spotify!
Dear Spotify, Thank you for your music app. We really enjoy it. I hope you can work out a deal with the Amazing Slow Downer app, because I enjoy it too. Being able to use both apps together feels great, like there is some kind of love or at least acknowledgement towards the budding musicians. Helping out new musicians might even be a good move for you since your company will benefit from the future works of some of these people one day!
I know Your company will do the right thing here. Thanks to everyone!
Sincerely,
Bruce Fleming
We need this! Invaluable for musicians of all levels!
Please don’t remove this capability to slow down songs from
Spotify! I moved to Spotify specifically so I could use the Amazing Slow Downer. As a musician, this app has changed my life. This is a very important part of my musical learning.
Please consider retaining the functionality that allows ASD to work so well with Spotify music.
Message in english will follow.
ASD has became a standard tool to musicians and music tutors in Sweden, probably in many other countries too. If Spotify won’t be able to work with ASD, many premium users will probably cancel their subscription to Spotify.
Please, reconsider keeping this SDK and keep ASD working!
The possibility to use Spotify with ASD app is a huge reason to stay with Spotify. If this will not be possible in the future I will consider move to other music provider.
Drummer here, avid user of the amazing slowdowner, heavy spotify user for the past 5 years as well.
i use both apps daily, and this sdk provides critical pathways for my use as a musician, to be able to play and/or loop songs to continue my musical education as well for work.
i urge you to find a solution with the amazing slowdowner developers that suits everyone and keep folks on spotify.
Thanks,
Daniel.
One of the reasons Im using spotify is to use it with amazing slowdowner.
Delete this feature and you will loose a lot of customers. Me included
Please understand the importance of this app in the development for thousands of young musicians. By allowing Spotify to be integrated in apps like Amazing Slow Downer, you put this unique and essential tool in the hands of children and young adults from any background. They can develop as musicians. They can discover the intricacies of the musical language. Please do not neglect the users of your product because they can continue to learn and grow and make the world beautiful with their music.
On a personal level, I have used Apple Music in the past and quite enjoy it. I switched to Spotify and got a premium membership specifically so I could use it with Amazing Slow Downer. If this no longer is the case, I will cancel my Spotify membership and encourage other musicians to do so as well. We need your support to learn this complex and beautiful art form.
I am very sorry to hear this news. The only reason I subscribe to Spotify is to use it with the Amazing Slow Downer app to learn to play music by slowing the speed and changing the pitch. I hope this can get resolved, otherwise, I will cancel my Spotify subscription and move to Apple Music.
I am extremely frustrated with this too. I am going to drop my Spotify subscription if this actually happens. It's the main reason I use Spotify.
100% agree with what had been said, please reconsider.
This simply cannot be true so near to music school start? With such short notice. I am dependent on ASD. It's like having a piano in the classroom. And I feel really embarrassed that I have to say: PLEAAAASSSSE! There must be somewhere in the EU, where we can complain? Hit me!
That is horrible news, me and my kids are using ASD and spotify . Same with many of the 150 kids and 30 teachers in my kids music school. Same with loads of fellow musicians I play with all over Sweden. Same with teachers at all level of music including musical universities. We all rely on ASD and spotify to transribe and learn how to play tunes. Quick access to many versions of the same tune helps in understanding how different players interpret the same song. Loosing the functionality will risk that these musicians young and old will copy the music from spotify over to mp3s or alternatively leave spotify and move to another streaming provider like apple music that is supported by ASD.
I use Spotify and ASD every day to practice and to change key when needed. This app combination has become an invaluable tool to me. If this compatibility is removed I will leave Spotify Premium and move to another streaming app. Please, please reconsider.
Spotify will shut down third party products helping children in music schools all over the world to learn how to play. Its a sad day for the music schools.
Amazing Slow Downer has made a revolution for children all over the world. And with the ability to integrate with a streamingservice, it is now an essential part of the recommended app's in music-schools.
I really hope they will reconsider this decision.
This is also really bothering me. As a musician, as a teacher. And this last post might be a little more tendentious. The more I think about why this is happening, the more I wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye?
And I must ask an inadequate question: Are Spotify about to implement the slow-down feature in Spotify as their own? And if not this way, will it then be executed in a secret sales-agreement with RoniMusic later on when they are down on their knees and the price is low. It would be a great achievement to own the AMD algorithm. And make it a part of Soundtrap Education. That, by the way, also are owned by Spotify. I know it is inadequate. And tendentious. But I keep wondering why such a great success used by so many people by now doesn't have any comments from Spotify.
I use ASD for my guitar practise most every day. Please, Spotify, let us keep this fabulous tool!
Thanks!
I get Amazon Music as part of my prime subscription- I only pay for Spotify premier because as a musician my playlists integrate with ASD and allow me to learn new music accurately by slowing it down or changing pitch to match how my band is playing it. Please make sure the sdk with necessary functionality remains available-
Streaming Spotify through Amazing Slowdowner is an invaluable tool that I use as a professional musician for learning and practicing music and as a private online music teacher. More than 40 of my music students also pay for the premium Spotify subscription just so they can use Spotify in conjunction with Amazing Slowdowner. Spotify, please do not change your relationship with ASD.
