Rejected from Quota Extension, Can't seem to understand why?

Rejected from Quota Extension, Can't seem to understand why?

Hi! This morning I got rejected for a quota extension from Spotify for these reasons:

  • Metadata, cover art and audio content must be accompanied by a Spotify logo and a link back to the applicable artist, album, track, or playlist on the Spotify Service (Design Guidelines)
  • Begins with Spot or used name similar in sound or spelling to "Spotify"

My application is currently hosted on: cloudify.herokuapp.com.

I can't seem to understand the first point. My application basically just generates a wordcloud of a users top 50 artists. Is this telling me in my wordcloud, I have to somehow link back to all 50 artists used in the wordcloud... That seems a little extreme to me.

The second point I understand as I called my application: Cloudify. However, I got the inspiration for this project based off two other projects using the Spotify API called "Receptify" and "Spotify Pie", both using Spotify in the names and sound similar. I'm wondering how they were able to be approved for a quota extension?

As Icebergify does, you can put the Spotify logo to every page of you webapp.

For the second point, I think you got unlucky, because I've seen other third-party apps with "Spot" or "ify" in it's name that got accepted.

I saw you posted a question on Stack Overflow. So, your quota extension was approved? If so, please mark my first answer as a solution.

Remark: the PNG file name is very long now (174 characters / 1392 bits). To shorten it, you can take the md5 hash. A md5 of 32 character / 128 bits.
