Retrieve recently played podcasts

Is there a way to get a user's recently played podcasts? 

I know there is for music (https://developer.spotify.com/documentation/web-api/reference/player/get-recently-played/), but I was surprised that this doesn't seem possible with podcasts. I feel silly asking this question because the api docs clearly state "Note: Currently doesn’t support podcast episodes," but I was wondering if there was a workaround or ETA on when this might be available.

This question has been outstanding for almost 2 years. I would like to make Spotify my de facto podcast player, but I am looking for a platform that will let me track and export my listening history.
