Hi Spotify Developer Team,
I am writing to request an individual review for a Web API Extended Quota for my iOS application, ReTouch Sound.
Background & Use Case
Bose has recently shut down the SoundTouch cloud infrastructure. As a result, many existing Bose SoundTouch owners are left with hardware that previously supported Spotify through physical preset buttons, but can no longer complete the required Spotify account linking through the legacy Bose app.
ReTouch Sound provides a solution for these users. The app enables an initial OAuth pairing between a Bose SoundTouch speaker and Spotify and allows users to map Spotify playlists to the speaker's physical preset buttons (1–6). Once configured, users can continue using their existing SoundTouch hardware to access Spotify.
Why the Standard Quota Criteria Are Difficult to Meet
The current Extended Quota application process requires at least 250,000 MAU before an application can be submitted.
This project is specifically designed for a defined fleet of legacy Bose SoundTouch hardware, so reaching 250,000 MAU is not a realistic target for this particular use case. The purpose of the application is not to build a large-scale new Spotify service, but to preserve Spotify functionality for an existing community of hardware owners who would otherwise lose access to it.
Our Request
I would therefore greatly appreciate:
An individual/manual review of this legacy hardware integration use case.
Consideration of a reduced or tiered quota, for example 1,000–5,000 MAU initially, rather than the standard threshold.
We are fully prepared to operate within appropriate rate limits and comply with Spotify's Developer Policy, OAuth requirements, security standards, and any other conditions you may require.
The standard customer support team (Referral Ticket) directed me to post here so that the request can reach the appropriate Developer Relations / Partner team.
I would be happy to provide technical documentation, a demonstration of the application, or any additional information needed to evaluate the integration.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
