My Question or Issue

I want to build an radio interface to spotify and was wondering if the web API will do the trick. I want to start playing a playlist or artist-radio via a python script. 

I would rather use the desktop app but the only thing I cant find is the spotify-local-control library that doesnt seem to work anymore. Can I log into my premium spotify account using my browser and use the web API to control whats being played?
