Audiobook skipped through dozens of chapters in seconds and then said listening time was over

Listening to an audiobook and when I clicked play on a chapter it scanned through and played all chapters in warp speed and used up all my audiobook time (e.g., like 10 hours of listening in <2 seconds). Is there a way to restore this?
