It says I get a 30 day free trial but when I went on the app it only said 7?

Hey there!

Whenever you install Spotify on a new device, you're eligible for a 7-day free trial, that you can activate without your credit card details.

When this is over, you can get another, longer 30-day trial (the one you wanted to activate?) that requires the submission of your credit card details in order to start a recurring subscription.

Not your thing? Just cancel your subscription before the first billing month ends, and you won't get charged a penny.
