Gift card trap

Hi - I had 6 x 1 month Spotify cards for last Christmas and Birthday.

Problem is they expire within 12 months (didn't realise until recently - I hate when companies do this - I can only seeing this being fair if the cost of Spotify was rapidly increasing) - but the other problem is that I have a current subscription (locked in) to another music service. I have had to redeem my Spotify cards, as I was worried they would be worthless.

Now they are redeemed can I put the account into free mode and leave my account 'in credit' until my other service subscription has ended.

I really do not need two streaming services obviously - but I also realise this is not Spotifys fault - but is there any way to do what I have asked above?

Unfortunately, there's no way to pause a subscription.
