I’ve received notice of rate increase

I’ve received notice of rate increase

I’ve received notice of a $2 rate increase on my Premium Duo account. The email message I’ve received states,  “We’re increasing the price of Premium Duo so that we can continue to invest in and innovate on our product offerings and features, and bring you the best experience.”

what exactly does this mean?  What specifically will Spotify be doing to “invest in and innovate” on your product offerings in order to bring me the best experience?  Naturally, whether I keep my account fully depends upon the specifics. Please provide details.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the feedback here in the Community.

For more info on what price changes mean for your account, head to Spotify.com or our FAQ page.  We also outlined why we're making these changes over on For the Record."

If I can fetch any other information for ya I’d gladly do so!

Lets keep this from going to the dogs,

I just wonder why all Spotify staff replies are not answering the questions?

Exactly. I have switched from Tidal to Spotify, now pay for Premium subscription, and get the same service for 17% extra cost, so I now wonder that I was so stupid doing that move.

Darth,

Uh huh! Oh yeah!

I’m riding shotgun with you to planet megabucks my friend!

Let’s talk about those companies that stayed on the Darth train unlike those losers Circuit City and RadioShack who… didn’t follow your advice? About long term memberships. Or something. Anyways let’s get the low-down on those smart businesses that saw those primo profits! What were their names and stuff?

I'm totally confused, and also angry.

All of a sudden Spotify charged me 17,99 euro's, instead of 14,99 euro for may family plan.

No email, no message, no sms, about this. NOTHING!

This is frustrating, and also (in my opinion) not legal. I didn't give Spotify the right to suddenly charge me more.

What to do about this? It feels SO wrong... I've been member from the start, but this has never happened to me before.

You did give a right for Spotify to charge your more.

Read the tiny lines, usually terms of service, they clearly state that price increase is possible anytime.

Of course they should give you notice about it. Check your data if it's correct.

I still pay old price for Spotify using gift card method mentioned. They sell still at old price in local store chains.

Spotify has lost touch. Increasing pricing at the reasoning of adding features nobody asked for or is unrelated to the core service offering (i.e. podcasts, audiobooks). In my region Spotify is now 20% more expensive than Apple Music and YouTube Music. No sane person is going to subscribe to Spotify with a worse sound quality at a higher price.

Spotify cost $15 a month for a duo plan.

i can get Apple family with four family members with Apple TV and Apple Music and pay $12 a month. How is it Spotify cost more than another music and streaming service combined. Amazon TV, Prime, and Amazon music is also less expensive than only Spotify premium.

These other music services are going to eat your lunch if you don’t act quickly. I can only justify paying more for less because of Joe Rogan and a great UI for a little longer until I make a common sense move.

I use of Spotify for a while. I pay on monthly basis and there are no breaks etc. Now you push me to spend more, like 1$. It's not much, but I really don't like it.
What extra do I get for this extra money vs what what I have now?
I guess nothing and this is wrong answer.
You should keep the old prices and introduce new plan line Premium plus which will contain NEW FEATURES, or some extra stuff which will convince me to go up stack. No new features? Introduce some, even small improvements for existing features and sell it like above.
No changes at all? Why should I pay more?

The premium increase is rubbish. I have family premium yet the premium features don't extend to all family members, I have to pay extra for full access to audio books and my podcasts are full of ads. Also, it's jumped $3 which is my biggest gripe of all. And there's no dedicated complaint section.

Give us something to justify increased subscription costs. Self explanatory.

I will need to suspend my duo subscription for a while to get my finances back on balance. Hopefully I will be able to return after a while. If I do come back will data for both my accounts still be there

So not paying artists under 1000 streams and putting up the cost by 10%
its disgusting
They are saying its because of audiobooks, ive never listened to audiobooks so wth
disgruntled to say the least

It's ridiculous, especially since audiobooks aren't always free on premium and you get 15 hours of listening a month unless you pay extra.

How much do they expect us to spend?

Reminder that this post reads like a piece of satire mocking empty business promises and scam artist cliches. I really hope it’s genuine because it’s sincerely funny.

I am unsure why anyone would accept these price increases when you can get better sound audio quality for less elsewhere, I also find Spotify's  HD audio claim misleading as it simply isn't

I cancelled my subscription and may consider coming back when Spotify join the 21st century and offer Hi Res audio

07/2024 - another $2 or ~12%+ price increase for what they said was the reason referred to in your earlier message dated 07/24/2023. It would be a hoot to hear what Spotify's "Executives" would stay are the objective reasons for the price increase. It's just a streaming music service...won't take us to the moon, promote world peace or anything else except to continue the climbing profit stream.

Who is your message aimed at dwall? Give some clues my man.

Actually doesn’t matter.

It’s a business that provides an awesome service that’s dirt cheap for what it provides and businesses want to make money even if they’re not solving world peace or going to the moon so use whatever rationale you want to be upset or perspicacious or whatever but just take a stab at living in the realm of reality and I think you’d be surprised how satisfying it is

Well no it actually doesn't, cheaper alternatives offer more for less

Might want to take the Spotify hat off and you can step into reality yourself

And FYI Spotify have never made a profit! They're running st a loss even though they pay artists next to nothing

Without their algorithm they are complete garbage
