Hello.
I currently have a 3-month premium plan that expires on Dec. 1, 2021.
For some days now, I have been trying to use the subscribe option to enable monthly payments for a Spotify account, so that my premium plan continues after Dec. 1.
I am using a Canara Bank Visa debit card, and each time I get a “payment failed” message.
This is the same debit card I used to purchase the 3-month plan on Sept. 1. I had no payment problems with this card then. The card itself has no problems, I just used it this morning.
I have used different browsers - on Android and on Windows - and have tried both normal and incognito modes. Still no luck.
Kindly resolve this issue.
Thanks
Hi @arg2021,
Welcome to the Community!
We're aware that we're having issues registering recurring payments from certain providers in India. In order to better assist you, please contact our folks from Customer Support who can take a deeper look into your account. Here is the link.
Let us know if you have any more questions.
Thanks for your reply.
I must point out that before posting here, I had participated in a chat session with someone from your Help Desk (Rosemary M).
That session ended inconclusively, with my questions being handed over to a bot. That is why I posted here.
Well, I'll try subscribing again after a few days.
Tried subscribing again a few minutes ago...
and failed again!
Hey @arg2021,
Thanks for getting back to us.
As @MafeG mentioned above, this issue is currently being looked into by our team. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have causes. What we can suggest is that you try a different bank card or one of the other pay-as-you-go payment methods available in India.
If this is not an option for you right now, keep in mind that your Premium is already active until the 1st of December and until then won't be impacted if you don't activate your next subscription right away.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience.
Hi @arg2021,
Thanks for the post.
If you're using a prepaid method, your account will go on free on the 1st of Dec. All your playlists and music will remain intact even if your account goes on free.
Hope this info helps 🙂
I am having same issue but can’t find a solution. Recent rules by RBI in India have discontinued auto renewal monthly payments from all credit cards from October 1st.
And Spotify is not offering a one time payment option, only monthly.
please help
Hi @tkyopandaman,
Thanks for the post.
If your bank/ financial institution is compliant and ready to migrate to the new payment system you should be able to use a recurring subscription. You should be informed of each payment every month. For more info on this you'd have to contact the bank, so that they can let you know if recurring payments are available through their system. If that is the case, all you need to do is cancel you current premium plan and re-subscribe. You should see the recurring option.
If not, you might consider the monthly pay as you go option.
Hope this info clears things up 🙂
I am also facing an issue with the recurring payments. In order to resolve the problem, I tried purchasing an annual plan using this link
But I get the error stating that 'Sorry, you're not eligible for the plan you selected. But here are more ways to get Premium!'. Refer the attached screenshot. Is there anyway I can purchase an annual plan? I am currently on a monthly plan.
Hi there @rohitdas64,
Thank you for your reply in this thread.
In this case we recommend that you follow the steps that @Alex provided in his answer above.
Let us know how everything goes 🙂
Take care!
Hi @Jeremy
1. Can I cancel my current subscription and buy an annual plan? If yes then how do I cancel it?
2. If I cancel my current subscription, will i lose my saved playlists?
Hey @rohitdas64,
That's right - you can try cancelling your current subscription and then getting the annual subscription. You can find the steps to cancel your subscription in this article.
Don't worry, remember that you won't lose any of your content (playlists, saved music, followed artists, etc.) if you cancel your subscription.
Hope this helps. The Community is here for you in case you need anything else.
Cheers!
I cancelled my premium plan and tried subscribing/buying the 12 month plan. Still getting the error saying that I am not eligible for it.
Hey @rohitdas64,
Thanks for the post.
You might not be eligible for this offer if you've benefited from similar long term discounts in the past, such as offers where you get 12 months of Premium at a reduced cost. Let us know if that's the case.
Hope this info clears things up.
Hi @rohitdas64,
Thanks for the reply.
In this case, we'd recommend reaching out directly to our customer support team through one of the channels here. Explain what has happened, you can also link them to this Community thread.
They'll be able to have a look backstage and check why you're not able to redeem this offer.
Cheers.
