My Question or Issue

My friend gave me a Spotify premium free for two months with a link. Why do I need to put my credit/ debit card information when it’s free for 2 months?

When you sign up for a free trial, you may see an authorization charge for a nominal amount appear on your account. This authorization charge allows Spotify to verify the validity of your payment method. It’s only a temporary hold and will disappear within a short time. Even though your trial is free, a valid payment method will be required to sign up to validate it and to ensure a smooth flow when switching form the free trial to the paid Premium subscription.
