Subscription Got Cancelled Automatically

I was on the Legacy Family Plan subscription until today. However, my renewal payment failed, and the system automatically cancelled my subscription and reverted my account back to the free tier. When I tried to make the payment again, the Legacy Plan option didn’t appear at all — it only showed the new plans, essentially forcing me to switch. This is confusing because, according to the official communication, existing users were supposed to be able to continue with the Legacy Plan. Could you please clarify why this happened?

According to the info I have, users that are on legacy plans can stay on those plans for as long as they like, as long as the payment method associated with that subscription is valid. When a payment fails, Spotify tries it again on several occasions, and if all attempts fail, the subscription ends and the user's account gets reverted to the free plan.

 

You can either re-subscribe to Premium Family or explore other Premium options that may suit your needs by visiting https://www.spotify.com/premium/

 

Also, if you have come across any official communication that says otherwise, please share a link to it here. But I believe that what you've saw somewhere likely only applies to active ongoing subscriptions.
