What is the plan solution for single parent with one kid?

What is the plan solution for single parent with one kid?

I don’t want to pay for family with up to 6 members and Duo doesn’t permit me adding a kid as a member. Please help. I also can’t access the topic in the solution page, so sorry if I’m repeating.

Hey there @TiggieMiggle, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

No worries— currently, Spotify Kids is only available with the Premium Family subscription. This means, that if you want to create a Spotify Kids account, you would need to have that plan. Premium Duo is a plan for 2 people who live together, however, both accounts are regular accounts.

Now, to get all the details about how the Spotify Kids accounts work, you can check out this article. The main difference is that with Spotify Kids, you'll have direct control of what your child listens to. If your child isn't old enough to use Spotify, that will be the only option for your child to use Spotify.

Hope this helps. Have a wonderful day!

Hi Billy-J, thank you for replying. Paying for a family subscription doesn’t seem fair to me at all, as it’s an obvious discrimination towards single parents, who having just one income have to pay even more than two adults sharing a household.

I'm finding myself in the same situation. Spotify should be more accessible to single moms with one child. We're already discriminated against enough!

Hey @Boobelicious, and @TiggieMiggle,

Thanks for your reply and sorry for the delayed response! I’ll make sure to pass your feedback on to the right folks. You’re more than welcome to create a new Idea about this here. These ideas become live and are shared with internal teams at Spotify.

If you need anything else, you may always create a new topic and the Community will be happy to help.

Have a great day!

hey, I found this thread because I have a similar situation. I have a single adult account and I was considering upgrading to the duo to add a child. While I understand that this feature is not available on the duo tier I believe that Spotify might be missing out on upgrading all the people with similar situations. $20 just seems too much to pay for a single adult and a single child. We don’t pay extra for our children to watch Netflix on the kids account.

I attempted to follows the link to add it as a suggestion. The link is either broken or you have added it to be humorous… because it takes me to a screen that says access denied.

Hey all,

Apologies for the broken link. You should be able to submit a new Idea here.  If you’re still unable to, Spotify may not be accepting new Ideas at the moment but you can always check back as we open up the form for more submissions time after time.

I’ll pass your feedback on to the right folks. The only options available for shared plans at the moment are Premium Duo or Premium Family.

Have a great day ahead!
