I've got a 12 month subscription to Spotify Premium which expires Dec 2020, but I'd like to upgrade this to Spotify Duo. Is it possible to do this? Can I pay the excess (£3.00) monthly or can I only do this once my subscription expires?

We have 2 premium Duo accounts.1 for me and my wife, and 1 for my kids.I like to combine this into a premium family.But how does this work?Do we have to cancel all duo's?And will my kids lose their music if we do this?It's not really clear to me.
