$ vs £

$ vs £

Hi as the subscription in the UK is £99, whereas it's $99 or KR1043 which is equivalent to £76, I want to pay using a alternative bank but it says you can only pay in the currency you are located in. Going back to Sweden in August but wondering why this is the case, why more expensive when I'm in the UK? I tried buying a gift card but it's the same issue, I can only buy a UK gift card when in the UK. Guessing I'll have to wait until I leave but it seems crazy.

Hey there @user-removed,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We'd like to add some insights here. Spotify Premium is priced differently in different countries, so that it's more affordable for everybody. On Spotify, the country of your account must match the country in which your card is issued in order to pay for the Premium subscription. This also applies to gift cards, as you kindly mentioned. This measure is intended with the idea of reducing abuse of this price difference.

The price difference for Premium varies across regions and is based on a variety of reasons. Those can be differences in licensing agreements or other factors that allow Spotify to be present in a given country and can be quite different from one region to another. In that sense, if you'd like to subscribe right now, you'll need to check the Premium prices for the United Kingdom, since you're currently located there.

We really appreciate the time you took to write to us, and we hope this clears things up for you.
