Add to other playlist button not saving changes

Add to other playlist button not saving changes

Plan: Premium

Country: US

Device: Motorola razr 2025

Operating System: Android

My Question or Issue:

When I click on the plus button to adjust what playlist(s) a song is saved in, I am able to complete my changes but very frequently the changes are not saved or applied to the song. This is a newer issue, now that there is no "save changes" button to click on. I have many playlists categorized by time & genre, so many of my songs go in more than one playlist, which has suddenly become an issue with this update. In addition, when I am adding a song to other playlists, I am unable to remove the song from a playlist at the same time when I used to be able to do all of this with one step. Now the only way to remove a song is to use specifically the "remove from this playlist" button.

This is the screen I have difficulty navigating away from. The touch is very finicky - after several tries I can tap and hold the top near the X and carefully swipe my finger downward to navigate away. This used to work fine. I'm on Android btw.

The new add to playlist functionality is broken in so many ways.
Especially on the phone.

Sometimes you can tick multiple lists, sometimes only one.
Closing the add-window is different each time.
Sometimes there's a back arrow in the top left corner, sometimes theres like nothing... you have to swip down form the top and then it closes the window....or the app. Completely random.
When there is a back arrow, it sometimes adds to the laylist... and sometimes reverts it.
Horrible ux. Very inconsistent, user unfriendly and unreliable.

Spotify premium user since 2013. Family plan since 2018. Please revert this back.  Nearly every digital application in 2025: "back" means cancel, not "save".  This is so annoying.

Spot on with this recommendation . Spotify premium user since 2013.  Please revert this back.  Nearly every digital application in 2025: "back" means cancel, not "save".  There needs to be a confirmation.  This is so annoying.

Need a "confirmation" for "add to playlist" or "add to other playlist". It is not Intuitive to go back on Android to assume they the a song will be a confirmed addition to a playlist. Simply add "save", and change "back" to prompt "discard changes?', like every other application known to human in 2025.

I have the same issue and figured out that using the reverse button of my phone rather than sliding down to close the playlist selection menu does save all changes.

I’ve been experiencing this issue on Pixel 9 Pro XL as well. Before the recent UI update, it was easy to add songs to playlists using the “+” icon, but now it only adds or removes songs from Liked Songs by default. To add something to a playlist, you have to tap “Add to other playlist,” and even then it’s inconsistent, it sometimes it takes multiple tries before the song is actually added. Closing or sliding down the playlist drawer doesn’t reliably save changes either, and songs end up in the wrong playlists. The standard troubleshooting also really doesn't help much

It really feels like this UI update wasn’t fully tested before launch. I’ve used Spotify for 6 years and honestly, these recent UI/UX changes have slowed down the experience rather than improving it.

It's ridiculous we're being directed to submit this as an "idea". This is a full on BUG. I wouldn't mind the swipe down as much if the songs were actually added to the playlists selected and it was less effort to swipe it down. But the fact that the songs don't actually save to the selected playlists is so frustrating.

I'm missing something, was there an update to this feature that broke it? I've been using it for a while now without problems and it's the best new feature that they ever came out with.

I have however noticed that some songs I added a while ago disappeared from playlists. It could have to do with the publisher editing the songs though, idk. Most of the time it's fine and I always see the 'Done' button on my Android no problem.

I'm glad it works for you, but yes there's been an update and yes it's broken.

Hello again.

The new add to playlist method /- approach, still escapes me. The screen that pops up - to be clear here, offers me one way to select multi playlists that I'd like to add a particular Title to. This with an additional search option to find a single, already existing playlist. This though, and if here again, no apparent .. way to Save a newly selected Title, to .. either whether a "New", or already existing playlist. (.. no apparent "Done" - as with the previous approach, or "Save", button.)

.. With this idea in mind, I much prefer the previous approach. ("iteration".)

This is an easy fix, but recently you guys changed the save feature in a way I feel negatively impacts user experience. Whereas there used to be a "save" button when adding songs to Playlist there is now just a tiny little bar which you have to pull down at the top. First of all I feel this is a lot worse because I usually have to try and pull it down multiple times, usually accidentally pulling down my phones menu in the process... it just makes such a simple feature take about 10x longer than it used to for no reason. On top of this there is now no indication whether the song has actually been saved, whereas it used to say "saved to (playlisy)". Many times since this update ive checked Playlists for songs I know I added, only for the app to have completely forgotten about them. This is beyond frustrating. At first i thought maybe I was just missing a save button somewhere, but ive checked and found no such thing. If there is one please point it out, and please make it more prominent. I'm a long-time spotify user and premium member, i love mysic and i love this app which is why I see no need for such a pointless change to unnecessarily diminish the user experience so greatly. Please bring back the old save button. Thank you.

It literally doesn't add it to half the playlists already submitted a complaint and they told me to reset blah blah maybe they should stop breaking it then I wouldn't need to do anything

Yeah this is horrible Spotify wth I have over a hundred playlists I'm not doing this 10 times

.. A with "Premium" membership, and with 300 plus playlists, I want a "Done" button. ... (Yesterday.)

TWIMC, .. I apologize for the multiple - duplicate, post here above. I had had trouble determining whether or my original post attempt was actually registering.  (Nonetheless, likely an important subject and idea for investigation, I feel certainly. [ ] hope someone does.)

Just bring back the confirmation button and we wouldn't have this issue
