First my apologies if I selected the wrong help-section, but I could not find one for playlists and since my spotify app runs on a windows desktop this was the closest one I could find.
The issue: For my playlists I often have Smart Shuffle turned on to see what Spotify comes up with. If I like a suggestion I add it to the playlist.
But the Spotify app than adds it also again to the top of the play-queue, where the song is already playing.
Is there a way to turn that automatically adding an added song to the play-queue off? Since in the case of an already playing song I don't "need" it again in my play-queue.
Thank you in advance.

My Question or Issue
Hi @Nemelis,
Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!
As far as I understand, adding an already playing Smart Shuffle suggested song to a playlist, it gets 'duplicated' in the play queue so that it will play again/next when it finishes. Since this is not expected behavior of Smart Shuffle it's worth looking in to.
First I recommend making sure that you've not accidentally enabled Repeat - .
If you've not already done this, if it's possible I also suggest checking if the same behavior persists in the app on another device or in the Web Player on your PC. If it doesn't happen then you can log out > back in twice in a row for a resync of the app and your account on the Windows device.
As a more advanced step you can go for a clean reinstall which often helps resolve different performance issues and you can follow the steps here. Then you can download Spotify again either from our website or the MS store (the version that you weren't using so far).
Appreciate the cooperation and keep us posted.
Thank you for helping
Repeat is disabled.
I did check it on my phone by connecting to the same play queue and adding the first suggested Smart play song. Then it is not added to the top of the queue again.
Then I logged out and in 3x (first time I did not close the app, the 2nd and 3rd I did).
And again added the first smart shuffle song which was being played to the the list and again it is added on top of the queue. See attached picture
But I found a probable reason:
One thing of difference of how I add a Smart Shuffle song on my phone and on my pc I just noticed:
But when I select "Add to current playlist" that does not happen.
In the past I often saw that adding a playing song to the current playlist did not work (nothing was added) or ended up in the "liked music" list (even when it was my own playlist). So I adopted the way I described above to make sure it gets added to the playlist I want to add it to.
But still my question is: why should it be added to the top of the play queue when you add a song to "another" playlist (and that playlist happens to be the one you are playing)?
Note: I did not check out what happens if I play playlist1 and add a song from that to playlist2 (so use above functionality to which it is intended). But also there it would make no sense to add the song to the top of the "playlist2" play queue, since that queue is not being played (the "playlist1" queue is being played).
And in the past that did not lead to the song being readded to the play-queue (for that playlist). Only since I think a month I see that readding the song to the play-queue "issue".
Just tested adding a smart shuffle song really to another playlist. In that case it does not get duplicated on top of the current play-queue.

Hey @Nemelis,
Thanks for providing the info.
We've raised both issues (not being able to add a suggest track to the current playlist and getting a duplicate of the current track in the queue) with our tech team. We'll let you know in this thread once we have news to share.
