My Question or Issue

Clicking plus icon next to song will show checked but it will not add to liked songs playlist. Attempting to add it to any other playlist will also not work. To note, my liked songs playlist has 1200+ songs, and the other playlists I'm adding to are 200+. Clearing cache no longer fixes the issue and restarting the desktop app will work but the issue will reappear after 5 minutes. I only have one other instance open on my Samsung Android but the issue persists whether it is on offline mode or not. Browser Spotify also seems to not have this issue. I have reinstalled the desktop app twice and the issue persists.

Hey @CrazyJuplup,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community! And kudos for already trying some troubleshooting on your own 🙂

Could you try resetting the app data to see if you notice any difference? To do this, open the desktop app > click on the 3 dots in the top left corner > Troubleshooting > Reset app data and restart.

Another thing which comes to mind is trying with another internet connection, if possible. For example, you can check with another WiFi, or temporarily connect to a hotspot created on your phone. Should you be using any VPN, make sure to switch it off as well, as it might interfere with the service.

If this doesn't do the trick, could you confirm if this seems to happen with all songs you're trying to add, or just with a certain one? Did you notice if this started at any specific points, such as after an update?

Hope this helps and let us know how you get on!

Resetting app data worked for a bit but the issue has reappeared. Changing internet connections also doesn't work and I don't use any VPN's. The issue has been increasing in frequency over the last year to now it's inhibiting normal use of Spotify. I couldn't point towards any correlation except maybe it increases in frequency with the more songs I add to a playlist or the longer I have a session open?, but even this is a stretch as it just appears completely randomly. The last is what explains me replying a week later, I'm sorry but replicating this issue is not consistent.

Hey there @CrazyJuplup

Thanks for getting back to us.

Could you check if the same issue happens if you try to add those songs to a brand new playlist? Keep in mind that large playlists can affect the app's performance. If you don't notice this with shorter playlists, we suggest that you split the large ones into smaller playlists to see if the issue persists.

If the behavior is the same regardless of the number of songs you have in the playlists, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your PC and check if they can replicate this with their own account?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
