Changes to Release Radar

Changes to Release Radar

I am very disappointed about the new changes to Release Radar which sees the playlist now include tracks from acts I don't follow. Release Radar was the single greatest thing about Spotify because it brought music from acts you already follow into one place. This morning's Radar contains 30 tracks 19 of which are from acts I don't follow. If I wanted to discover new acts I would Click on Release Radar's sister playlist Discover Weekly. This is a quite baffling change by Spotify, please revert to previous application or introduce a new playlist which just displays new music from the acts that people follow.

Hi @rosmad,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community, we'll be glad to shed some light on the situation.

What you mention is actually normal, the Release Radar doesn't only help you keep track of artists you follow, but is meant to allow you to discover new music from others we think you might enjoy. It is also one way for Spotify to help artists get their music noticed.

Also, keep in mind that on the What's New hub you can see in chronological order the releases of exclusively the artists you follow. You can find the hub on the main screen of the mobile app, at the top right side with a bell icon.

Let us know if you have any questions.

And where is the what's new hub located? If it isn't on desktop it's about
as much use to me as My **bleep** Valentine lyrics 😉

Hey @rosmad!

Thanks for getting back to us.

I'm afraid the What's new hub is available only on mobile for the time being, but we hope it'll appear on desktop as well in the near future.

Did your Release Radar look better this week? We haven't made changes to how it works, so hopefully it was just a temporary thing for last week.

If you keep getting artists you don't know in the list, it's possible that the algorithm can't find enough new releases from the artists you follow/have in your Library to show you for the week. But as @MafeG mentioned, it's not a rule that the list only includes followed artists. We'd recommend downvoting the songs you don't enjoy to improve the suggestions for next time.

We'll be here if there's anything else we help out with.
