My Question or Issue

Recently the quality of Daily Mixes have declined significantly. I tend to listen to albums that have a short intro (1-2 minutes long) and long individual tracks. And in the past few weeks all of my Daily Mixes are filled with these intros and very short tracks from the albums (very few are over 7-8 minutes long).

Whatever the change it was, I'd appreciate if it was reverted or improved.

Please fix this!

Not going to elaborate since my issue is the same as everyone else's.

I've blocked a bunch of tracks on mobile application, but these tracks have still been appearing in daily mixes almost every day for months already, so this certainly does not help. You can even open Daily Mix playlist and see that there is a bunch of blocked tracks right away.

Mobile app skips blocked tracks in the playlist, but it does not skip them in the desktop app, which is not even aware that tracks are blocked.

These answers are so irrelevant and useless! I know the music I listen to regularly outside of the algorithmic recommendations and its certainly not a bunch of songs between 1-2 minutes !

It's getting ridiculous. I've had this problem for 3-4 months after liking several tracks that are 2min or less.. Now the algorithm "thinks" it's my preference to listen to short songs, despite the queue containing songs of similar sounding/genre. Such a disappointment that I as a user don't have the ability to control or influence this.

This is now the third week in a row where my DW is not only recommending mostly songs under 2 minutes in length, but it is also adding in the same exact songs from previous weeks (note the Lil Uzi Vert song I already said I don't like in my previous screenshot). Would be super cool if Spotify stopped using it's premium users as beta testers for their terrible algorithm.

Jumping in to complain about this as well. I have been a loyal spotify customer for years and within the past 2-3 months *all* of my playlists have been taken over by these filler tracks. Nothing is over 1:02 in duration. A lot of the artists are completely irrelevant to my tastes and when they are relevant, all I hear are filler and interlude tracks. It's incredibly annoying and clearly a bug or a deliberate business decision that is negatively impacting user experience. If this isn't fixed by Thanksgiving I'm switching to another streaming service.

Same is happening with Radio selection of songs, which has been reported here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Android-Radio-Algorithm-chooses-too-many-Short-songs/m...
Disclaimer - it's happening not only on android.

Here's a request for a fix: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Fix-the-algorithm-choosing-too-many-short-songs/idi-p/56...

Does this mean Spotify is rating this now as new feature?

It is an obvious bug and they want to wait for a number of votes to go on and fix a bug?

That is ridiculous.

This short songs might make the algorithm going askew, daily mixes are slowly gravitating into the black hole of short songs. My daily mixes are also affected making them pretty weak and useless.

Spotify, can you fix the algorithm please?

Hey everyone,

Apologies for the lack of updates on our end.

We've passed this information to the relevant team at Spotify, however, we can't confirm when it will be addressed.

In the meantime, please make sure to keep your app up to date.

Rephrase the topic if you want to, but I think you catch my drift. I've got an artist account, and all suggestions everywhere (suggestions, radio etc) are really weird tracks that all are 1 min 6s. I've tried hiding them, but they keep coming back. I do have one track that mysteriously has taken off, getting 12-1400 plays a day, from less than 276 accounts; all stemming from some weird playlist called Fresh Hiphop. 80% or so straight outta Helsinki 😂
So my first thought is AI bottled cr@p. Nonorganic.
What do I do?

On desktop all 1.06 tracks have been hidden, I have hidden at least 50 of em by now, but if you take a quick gander you'll quickly notice how weirdly short all these tracks are...

I remember the old times when, still adolescent, I was impatiently waiting for Spotify services to finally reach my country. Finally a place to listen to music that wouldn't risk to be closed for "piracy", a bank of music even ! Fast forward today, I see how you've perverted the system, how musicians must create short tracks to hope being included in your joke of an algorithm. You've created something you've got absolutely no control over, or even don't want to have any control over.

You were supposed to help music, not corrupt it.

Anyway, since you're not disposed to try and fix the problem; not even bordered to answer; I'm happy to leave. Never again will I participate in this. I love music too much to like you anymore, you and the whole music industry, there is no words powerful enough in today's weak languages to express my feelings towards you. Absolute shame.

How times have changed, how passion has changed. How corrupted you've all become.

Radio is completely useless now. Most of the songs are either interludes or intros, very rare to get something above 3.00. Makes for a frustrating listening experience. Been using Spotify for 15+ years and its never been like this.

can yall fix this? 2024 still a problem (classic spotify doesnt care)

Today I listened new ep of Derek Carr its normal music and after in radio was 32!!! THIRTY TWO!!!!! tracks in a row low than 2:30-2:00 min... I have pain when use spotify now:(

Not even a reply or "we're looking into it"?

I really like a lot about Spotify. But not enough to be ignored when support is requested. All of these streaming companies are the same. Parasites leeching off artists and listeners.

I am having the same problem and the more i exclude short tracks from the daily playlists the worse the situation seems to get.  I am sick to death of inane intros, outros, intermissions etc. and the playlists are beginning to bear little relationship to what albums i am actually playing. Why is it that once a track is excluded from a playlist it may keep reappearing?  I am beginning to seriously consider switching to Amazon Music after loving spotify for years.

Same issue here, Song Radio or any Spotify suggestions are just full of very short songs. It's making Spotify quite useless for music discovery now 😞

Yes, I have decided to abandon Spotify for a different service. They don't
deserve my business anymore. I recommend others leave as well because
Spotify only takes signals from the bottom line and certainly not these
community boards.
