When listening to a dowloaded song from my library, does the streams counts? How it works?
Hey @fxckstae, thanks for reaching out to the Community!
Great question. Yes, Spotify will count offline listening for a song's play count and your listening stats. The way it works is if you are offline, the data is stored in the app, and the next time you turn on the internet on your device, the data is sent to Spotify.
Let me know if you have any more questions!
Spotify recently gave Spotify offline backup playlist thing Which is super cool but my Doubt is does the offline backup playlist count as streaming and can it submit the data for Official listening statistics? Thank you in advance.
Hey @vardhannarayan,
Thanks for your post! Spotify does counts offline listening for your listening stats. If you’re listening offline, the data is stored in the app and the next time you connect to the internet on your device, it gets sent to Spotify so the streams can be counted.
However, whether you listen offline or on, streams are only counted when you’ve listened to over 30 seconds of the song. You can also refer to the Spotify for Artists help article for more information regarding what counts as a stream on Spotify.
Hope this helps!
Thanks man.
Out of curiousity, if i were to listen to some music offline while at the same time playing music on the same account online, would it still track both listening sessions towards stats and so on?
Hey @Tcw0301,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, it would count any streams that were done offline once you get back online. Keep in mind that Spotify is meant for personal, non-commercial use, which means that you may not be able to listen to music on the same account at the same time on two different devices.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Hello, I have heard that the data for songs we listen to offline is not saved, but they are all visible in the listening history. Does Spotify count the listening data for these songs when we go back online?
I think Spotify only counts the stream once. They do not take into consideration the number of times a song is played offline before the user connects to the Internet again.
