Duplicate songs on playlist

Solved!

Duplicate songs on playlist

Because of a new update, I can’t add the same songs twice or more on a playlist. Anyone know if there’s another way?

Spotify, please respond! Many users are using one major Playlist for the songs they like. The only way to prioritise songs which you really love is adding them multiple times. I don't use Spotify on PC and I assume most users just use the mobile version.

The workaround with adding songs to be duplicated via a new Playlist which is then added to the target Playlist does not work on Android.

And as a premium use for many years I'm supposed to pay 15% more from January. Now you're removing a feature which is essential for my listening habit.

What is your plan in this regard?

If you make two playlists with the same song, you can add a playlist into a playlist to duplicate the song. To do this, you press on the three dots button an scroll to the bottom of the playlist settings you will see an option titled “add to playlist” and add it to the one with the same song. This worked for me on mobile (IPhone 8).

That doesn't work for me. I tried every work around in this thread. None
work, and I'm a premium user. There is just no way for me to duplicate
songs in Playlist any more.

Same here: That doesn't work either.

I'm sorry, but this is such bullsh1t. I'm travelling for the holidays so I don't have my pc with me now, and so I have pointless limitations with how I manage my playlists. Been using Spotify since something like 10 years now and each update worsens the user experience, while the price for the subscription keeps increasing.

I even tried to login on browser from my phone using desktop mode, but something blocks the website from even working. You are actively working to worsen the user experience it's so damn annoying.

Same with me. I created a playlist with repeated songs last time. Today, I can't do it anymore. Like it now seems impossible

How do we unmark this as "solved"?  It's definitely NOT solved.

This is why i will not be reentering my subscription!

Tengo una cuenta free en Android y yo antes creaba mis propias playlists y podía agregar una canción las veces necesarias para el stream, pero ahora no puedo agregar la misma canción dos o más veces a la misma playlist. ¿A qué se debe y qué puedo hacer?

I agree. I believe it was 💯 intentional:

  • Spotify pays creators via # of streams, right?
  • Spotify probably limits payouts for songs actually “on repeat”,
  • and so creators start to get ppl / fans to add their song multiple times to the same playlist and let her rip quietly in another room

That is my conspiracy theory for the day, lol!

So after spending almost an hour explaining and re-explaining to the spotify agent, who tried everything from "can't you just put it on repeat over and over" to queuing which defeats the purpose of creating playlists, he said what we need to do is put in a request to have to have the feature added back and then garner votes.  So even though no one voted to have it removed, we have to vote someone on this forum to have it added back.  I'm all for it.  Anyone want to help us find out where to create this poll and have it added back?

After the new update, it is not possible to add the same song multiple times to a Spotify Playlist from the phone. How to add the same song to a playlist several times when making a playlist on the phone.

Why can I add duplicates on desktop but not on mobile? This is ridiculous and is NOT resolved.

SPOTIFY PLEASE ADDRESS THIS. IT IS NOT FAIR TO BE ABLE TO ADD DUPLICATE SONGS IN DESKTOP AND NOT MOBILE.

My Question or Issue

After a recent update, it's impossible to add a song to a playlist when that song is already in the playlist.

Also, you finally added the ability to sort playlists when adding a song, but it still can't use the custom order. This should be the default!

On recent updates on Spotify, when you add a playlist on Spotify, if it is already in playlist there will be a green checkmark.

It’s not solved for the mobile app. The desktop function was already there so that’s not a solution. The problem is in the mobile app and that is still not solved. I and many with me do not have a desktop app anymore. So we still have this problem

My Question or Issue

Hello!  Recently, I wanted to create a new playlist, with the following songs in this order:

 - Young Adult by Ritt Momney

 - Moaning Lisa Smile by Wolf Alice

 - PINCH ME by young friend

 - No Care by Daughter

 - Young Adult by Ritt Momney

When I tried to create this playlist, the first four songs added fine, but the last one was IMPOSSIBLE to add!  It used to be the case that adding a song to a playlist twice (or as many times as you like) was possible, the app just warned you that it was already added and confirmed you wanted to add it again.  This was the (objectively) correct behavior, it allowed me to do WHATEVER I wanted with my playlist.  Now I am not able to even find a reasonable workaround for getting a song onto a playlist twice.

This is not my first frustration with Spotify (the 3+ year old thread on "hey why doesn't desktop have sleep timer yet" is an old favorite, as is Smart Shuffle being before normal shuffle in the toggle order and not having a setting to globally disable if I hate it, as is non-dismissable blue bubbles on podcasts in the podcast view, as is the inability to tell the app "I LISTENED TO THIS PODCAST ONE TIME I DIDN'T LIKE IT STOP SHOWING IT TO MEEEEEEEEE 😭" as is Spotify's apparent dismissal of all issues brought to it, I have yet to see a complaint I care about responded to in a way that even pretends to care from Spotify's side) but this particular issue is the straw on the camel's back.  I am seeking other ways to get my music.  I'm so frustrated with all these issues that I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I open the app.  PLEASE.  Fix this.  You had it right before.  PLEASE.

No longer. This has now been taken away on desktop too, as the desktop app seems to have been altered to be much like the phone app.

Fix it, or we will go elsewhere. Fix...itt.....or...we....will....go......elsewhere.
