There is a new update in Spotify that changed the looks of everything, and I used to listen to local files on the sidebar. This new update is great, but I cannot find the local files page. I looked everywhere but still can't find it. Any pictures that show where local files are will be greatly appreciated

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies and the posts.
Just wanted to drop in and mention, that recently we've made some changes to how the Local Files are being handled by the app. You can find out more information on the new discovery mode on this page.
Keep in mind, that there is no syncing of local files between devices over the Spotify app anymore.
On the note of the thread - if you can't see the Local Files folder icon, you have to first enable the Local Files setting in the app settings.
Hope this helps,
Cheers!
unnecessary steps I've been taken and when I go to play local files I still get the same response they can't add right now whatever I have premium I paid premium.. I have not seen one person be able to play local files.. what am I paying for?.. it's not like I'm some **bleep** using a modded version..... I would like to be able to use my local files through Spotify as stated when I signed on and gave up my dough.... would appreciate some kind of explanation.. and refund if you're not going to play my local files.
After a bunch of trial and error I think I found the issue, it has to do with Spotify not allowing certain files that are deemed "illegal sources". So what I did was open the music file in QuickTime and then saved it as a QuickTime file, it saved it as .mov file and it worked.
I'm having a similar problem to the one others describe here. I've enabled "Show files from this device," I've made sure the device is listed under "Devices," and I don't see anything under Local Files - not even an "Add a source" option. Attaching a screenshot. I have a Premium account and am currently on an iPad. Any advice? Thanks
Looks like you're using an iOS device. You can find more info on how to set up your local files in this article.
Cheers!
That is the article whose instructions I followed. There was no pop-up window asking permission to access my local network; the only result was the screenshot I posted. There is also nothing in the Local Files folder in my Library - also attaching that screenshot here. Thanks for the response - still hoping for a working solution!
Hey @littlek_and_bigk,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you tell us the Spotify app version you're using?
Are you trying to find the files directly on the iPad or are the files on a different device?
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
Hi - yes, the files are on the iPad itself. The Spotify version is 8.7.92.521. Thanks
Hey there @littlek_and_bigk,
Interesting that the prompt didn't pop up. In that case it's worth checking if the Spotify app is actually allowed to access local network. You can do that in your iPad's Settings > Privacy > Local Network.
Let us know how it goes.
Still mystifying - Spotify does have local network access:
Hey @littlek_and_bigk,
Thanks for the reply and the troubleshooting tried so far.
What is the format of the files you want to play on the iPad and where are they stored exactly? Could you try moving them to a different folder or try songs with a different format?
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
same issue. local files enabled. add source: all files (mp3s) in grey and cant be added. quit spotify etc. cleared cache. none of the files are itunes or anyone elses.
Hey @xyz0888,
Thanks for your reply.
In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're running there?
On another note, are you trying to sync the files from another device or are the files within the device on which you're having this inconvenience? It'd be awesome if you could clarify that for us. Keep in mind our Local files experience changed recently.
Keep us in the loop!
hey have u got any solution to that? facing the same probem too
I'm weary of relearning things because of "improvements" that really aren't. Jeremy says, "We're always testing things by adding or removing features." That makes it sound like they are messing with around with stuff on a whim. How about running these things by 10 year+ Premium subscribers, like me, before rolling out to production?
Thanks for the screenshot. Very frustrating. Once I finally found it, I made it a Pinned playlist. That may make it easier to find next time.
I was having issues with this but realised it was a file format problem, and not a Spotify problem. I added .m4a files to my Spotify folder on iOS and I could not get a "Local Files" folder to appear in my Spotify playlists despite clearing cache, resetting etc. I converted the files to .mp3 and the folder appears.
i cant find it, no matter where i look, i looked in the library-nothin, i checked the box for enabling it,nothing.
My issue was that the files weren't showing after I enabled the option.
It took 10 good minutes for the files to show up, there were 2900 files in total, and no sign of activity on the screen. (Android)
Showing us when Spotify is looking through our files would help clarify things are working as expected.
Another issue I have with this feature, is the lack of control we have over it.
All music files are being synced, and so are some of my phone calls, which I really don't want to make available through Spotify (even though they shouldn't be synced by Spotify anymore, I don't want to allow Spotify access to those)
