Hey @paton,
Thanks for reaching out.
The default sorting order for a playlist is Custom and it's the one being used when a shared playlist is opened. It's currently not possible to change that (feel free to submit it as an idea here), so a workaround for this would be to sort the playlist by Date added and then copy its contents to a new one. When you share it the most recent song will then play first, and the oldest - last.
We hope this helps. Let us know if there's anything else.

Thanks for the response, MihailY. was hoping I didn't have to do that.
Spotify is almost 20 years old. I'm surprised that the process for creating and sharing public playlists isn't dead simple by now.
If there were fewer hurdles for local influencers to share public playlists, then the viral marketing that Spotify's business model depends upon would accelerate.
Odd resolution, was also looking for a way to save my public playlist in a way, that it is always opened as "newest added first" which obviously doesn't work, I tested it with friends. Custom is always the default when it is opened.
I just copied the whole content of the playlist to a new one in the order I want it, added it back (so it doubled), and then removed all old ones so my likes and the old playlist stays as it is but the order is fixed. Just need to ensure that I move all new additions to the top manually in the future, which is really a hassle. Don't understand why there is functionality like "save order for public" or so.
However, thanks for clarifying.
FWIW paton, I was also hoping this was possible but sucks this is the only resolution. Creating a new playlist defeats the purpose of having people follow one you've already created.
