My Question or Issue

I use Spotify for two primary purposes: listening to film scores and other instrumental music for background noise while I'm at work, and listening to my preferred music styles when I'm not at work. The two styles are vastly different.

I have found that my discovery playlists are all now almost exclusively instrumental/film score content. I'm trying to reset that over time. I had found an article that said private listening mode excluded music you listened to from your taste profile, but that appears to be incorrect -- I need to use playlists that are excluded from my taste profile for that.

The question I have is, if I start adding albums to an excluded playlist and playing them from there, how long will it take before that behavior change starts being reflected in my Discover Weekly and other Spotify-created playlists?

Hey @combinare,

Thank you for posting this thread in the Community!

Similarly to what you mentioned, if you exclude a playlist from your Taste Profile, past and future listens from that playlist will have less impact on your taste summaries and recommendations. However, it's worth mentioning that if you listen to songs that are on an excluded playlist, but do so from outside that playlist (such as in Liked Songs for example), those streams will still be included in your Taste Profile.

Usually, excluding a playlist from your Taste Profile should take effect within 48 hours, but some recommended content such as Discover Weekly may not be affected until the following week.

For the moment, it's sadly not possible to completely reset your taste profile (unless you create a new account), but you might like this Live Idea - Introducing a 'Reset Taste Profile'Feature which you can check out and vote for in order to show your support.

Hope this info helped clear things up and we're here if you've got any other questions.
